Abstract: A tissue guard for use with a surgical access device includes a proximal ring having proximal and distal ends, the distal end configured to operably couple to a ground ring that ultimately electrically connects to an electrical ground. One or more mechanical interfaces extend about the proximal ring and are configured to mechanically engage a rim of an access device to secure the tissue guard thereon. A retention body is configured to operably couple to a distal end of the ground ring, the retention body including a distal end configured to operably engage the access device to secure the tissue guard therein.

Abstract: A transvaginal occluder includes an elongated housing having proximal and distal portions and an internal cavity defined therebetween configured for selective receipt of a surgical instrument therethrough. The elongated housing includes a first material having a first durometer extending between the proximal and distal portions and defining the internal cavity, the first material including one or more recesses defined therein along the internal cavity. The elongated housing also includes a second material having a second, lower durometer and that extends between the proximal and distal portions, the second material encapsulating a portion of the first material and configured to engage vaginal tissue. The elongated housing also includes a third material having a third, lowest durometer disposed within the one or more recesses that is configured to engage a shaft of the surgical instrument in a fluid tight manner.

Abstract: A surgical clip applier includes a handle assembly, an elongated shaft, a drive shaft, a cam pin, and an end effector. The cam pin is disposed in mechanical cooperation with the drive shaft. The end effector is disposed adjacent a distal end of the elongated shaft and includes a first jaw member and a second jaw member. The end effector is disposed in operative engagement with the drive shaft such that longitudinal translation of the drive shaft relative to the housing of the handle assembly causes the first jaw member to move toward the second jaw member. The first jaw member includes a first cam slot configured to slidingly receive the cam pin. The first cam slot defines a first portion having a first slope and a second portion having second slope.

Abstract: A stitching device includes a handle assembly and an elongate shaft assembly. The handle assembly includes a main rod and a drive conversion assembly including a cam wheel, a pivot block, first and second links, and a pawl. The pawl is operatively coupled to the main rod, and is configured to engage the pivot block to cause rotation of the pivot block which, in turn, causes reciprocating displacement of the first and second links. The elongate shaft assembly includes first and second blade drive members coupled to the cam wheel. The tool assembly includes first and second jaws and first and second blades. The first and second blades are operatively coupled with the respective first and second blade drive members, wherein axial displacement of the main rod transitions the first and second jaws between open and closed positions and causes reciprocating axial displacement of the first and second blades.

Abstract: A surgical access assembly includes an instrument valve housing defining a cavity, and a seal assembly disposed within the cavity of the instrument valve housing. The seal assembly includes a flange seal member and a centering mechanism. The flange seal member includes an annular member, a flange portion extending from the annular member, and a seal portion supported by the annular member and defining an opening dimensioned to receive a surgical instrument in a sealing relation. The flange portion includes first and second arcuate portions adjustably engaging the instrument valve housing in a sealing relation. The first and second arcuate portions have a parabolic profile. The centering mechanism maintains the seal assembly centered within the cavity of the instrument valve housing.
