    Abstract: A surgical clip applier includes a handle assembly, an elongated shaft, a drive shaft, a cam pin, and an end effector. The cam pin is disposed in mechanical cooperation with the drive shaft. The end effector is disposed adjacent a distal end of the elongated shaft and includes a first jaw member and a second jaw member. The end effector is disposed in operative engagement with the drive shaft such that longitudinal translation of the drive shaft relative to the housing of the handle assembly causes the first jaw member to move toward the second jaw member. The first jaw member includes a first cam slot configured to slidingly receive the cam pin. The first cam slot defines a first portion having a first slope and a second portion having second slope.

    Abstract: A smoke evacuator for use with a surgical access device includes an evacuation ring having an inner peripheral surface defining one or more channels therein disposed in fluid communication with an operating cavity. A connection port is disposed thereon in fluid communication with the channel(s) and adapted to connect to a smoke evacuation system. The evacuation ring includes a profile having an inner flange that forms part of the inner peripheral surface of the evacuation ring and one or more lower flanges, the inner flange is configured to mechanically engage a rim of an access device and the lower flange(s) is adapted to mechanically engage a wound guard, wherein engagement of the inner flange of the evacuation ring atop the access device and engagement of the lower flange(s) with the wound guard secures the access device, the wound guard and the smoke evacuation ring within the operating cavity.

    Abstract: An expandable access port includes a port body transitionable between expanded and collapsed configurations. The expandable access port also includes a plug with a first portion secured to the port body and a second portion flexibly coupled to the first portion by an arm. The first portion has an orifice and the second portion has a post insertable into the orifice. A tube is attached to an inflation port on the first portion of the plug. The tube is attachable to a source of inflation fluid and in fluid communication with a chamber of the port body. A lumen extends through the port body and is configured to slidably receive the post or a surgical instrument therethrough. The lumen forms a fluid-tight boundary when the port body is in the expanded configuration.

    Abstract: A specimen retrieval device includes a bag having a closed bottom end portion and an open top end portion. The specimen retrieval device includes a cinch mechanism coupled to the open top end portion. The cinch mechanism includes a flexible band secured to the bag and a cinch coupled to the flexible band. The flexible band is movable relative to the cinch to reduce or enlarge a diameter of the open top end portion of the bag. The cinch is selectively engagable with the flexible band to fix the diameter of the open top end portion of the bag.

    Abstract: A tissue guard includes a body having a first section and a second section each defining an open proximal end, an open distal end, and a lumen extending therethrough. The distal end of the first section includes a plurality of resilient fingers operably coupled thereto, each of the plurality of resilient fingers including a flange biased towards the distal end of the first section. The second section includes a corresponding plurality of holes defined therein in annular row-like spatial registration with the plurality of resilient fingers. The distal end of the second section is configured to be telescopically received within the proximal end of the first section such that mechanical engagement of the plurality of fingers with a corresponding row of annular holes locks the first section relative to the second section to incrementally adjust the height of the body.
