摘要: A method of making a nonwoven fiber web comprises: providing a melt-blown nonwoven fiber web comprising bonded primary fibers having an average fiber diameter of 2 to 100 microns, wherein the primary fibers comprise a copolymer comprising divalent hydroxyethylene monomer units and divalent dihydroxybutylene monomer units; opening at least a portion of the melt-blown nonwoven fiber web to provide loose primary fibers; combining the loose primary fibers with secondary fibers; and forming a secondary nonwoven fiber web comprising the primary fibers and secondary fibers. A fiber web preparable according to the method and a multicomponent fiber including a first phase comprising a copolymer comprising divalent hydroxyethylene monomer units and divalent dihydroxybutylene monomer units and a second phase comprising a non-biodegradable polymer.

摘要: Compositions that include: from 5 wt-% to 70 wt-% of one or more plant based oils based on the total weight of the composition; from 35 wt-% to 95 wt-% of an aqueous phase based on the total weight of the composition; not greater than 7.5 wt-% of one or more surfactants based on the total weight of the composition; and not greater than 3 wt-% of a viscosity modifier of, wherein the composition has a pH from 4.5 to 9.5, the composition is an oil in water (o/w) emulsion, and the composition is edible. Methods of utilizing disclosed compositions are also included.

摘要: A copolymer composition that includes a silicone copolymer, methods of making the composition, and articles that include the composition, wherein the copolymer composition includes a silicone copolymer having a backbone composition that includes: silicone segments in an amount of 5 wt-% to 40 wt-%, based on the total weight of the silicone copolymer; hydrophilic segments in an amount of 40 wt-% to 75 wt-%, based on the total weight of the silicone copolymer; and reinforcing segments in an amount of 5 wt-% to 30 wt-%, based on the total weight of the silicone copolymer, wherein the reinforcing segments are derived from the reaction of one or more chain extenders with one or more multi-functional isocyanates, multi-functional carboxylic acids, multi-functional anhydrides, multi-functional esters, and/or multi-functional acid halides; wherein the silicone segments, hydrophilic segments, and reinforcing segments are connected through urea, urethane, amide, and/or oxamide linkages; wherein the hydrophilic segments and the reinforcing segments are present in a weight ratio of 1.8:1 to 8:1; and the hydrophilic segments and the silicone segments are present in a weight ratio of 1.3:1 to 4.5:1.

By suppressing virulence, administration and/or application of the medical compositions can be used to prevent, mitigate, or treat a microbial infection. The phosphate-containing copolymers are prepared by phosphorylating either a random copolymer or a random copolymeric block that contains monomeric units of propylene oxide and glycidol.

Methods of utilizing disclosed compositions are also included.

摘要: Medical compositions and methods of suppressing microbial virulence are provided. By suppressing virulence, administration and/or application of the medical compositions can be used to prevent, mitigate, or treat a microbial infection. More specifically, the medical compositions include a phosphonate-containing polymer. The phosphonate-containing polymers can suppress the expression of various virulence factors without destroying all microbes that may be present.
