摘要: In a belt continuously-variable transmission, a casing or a housing is formed with an air communicating hole extending through an upper part of the casing or the housing. The casing and the housing include inner walls defining an air breather chamber and communicating parts. The air breather chamber is defined in a region located above a joint between the casing and the housing and ranging from an upper side of the second shaft to an upper side of the first shaft and between the second shaft and the first shaft. The communicating parts are defined at a position in the upper side of the first shaft and at a position between the second shaft and the first shaft. The air breather chamber communicates with open air via the air communicating hole, and communicates with an inside part of a casing assembly via each of the communicating parts.

摘要: In a display panel, the luminance and contrast are improved by making a partition semitransparent, which is a constituent element adjacent to a light-emitting section. A visible light incident on the partition proceeds inside the partition while being attenuated at a constant rate. When an external light incident on the partition from the front side is reflected off the bottom surface of the partition and returns to the front side again, the external light reciprocates inside the partition. Since the external light is largely attenuated by the reciprocation, the partition seemingly functions as an optical absorber with respect to the external light. A light emitted by the light-emitting section can transmit through the partition and radiate to the outside from the front side.

摘要: First and second oil flow passages are defined in a wall portion of a transmission casing. The first oil flow passage has an open end exposed to an interior of the casing. The second oil passage is connected to the first oil passage through a connection opening defined by the first oil passage. A separate pipe member has a predetermined end portion that is inserted into the first oil passage from the open end of the same. The predetermined end portion comprises a cylindrical portion having a fixed length; an end opening defined by an end of the cylindrical portion and exposed to the first oil passage; and an orifice opening defined by a side wall of the cylindrical portion. The orifice opening is blocked by an inner wall of the first oil passage when the connection opening takes a first position relative to the open end of the first oil passage, and exposed to the second oil passage when the connection opening takes a second position relative to the open end of the first oil passage. The second position is closer to the open end of the first oil passage than the first position is.

摘要: To maximize the efficiency of utilization of mother substrates used as material for the substrates in the flat display panel to form a display screen, the flat display panel includes a display screen formed by tetragonal first and second substrates. Four sides or opposite two sides forming a tetragonal peripheral edge of the first substrate are rendered to be substantially equal to those of the second substrate, and the first and second substrate are sandwiched together with one of the first and second substrates protruding in part outwardly from the peripheral edge of the other of the first and second substrates.

摘要: In a conventional method of driving a plasma display panel, for example, an auxiliary discharge is executed between an A electrode and a Y electrode to improve light-emission efficiency of a display discharge. However, since a phosphor layer is present between the A electrode and the Y electrode, the phosphor layer is exposed to a discharge, whereby there is a problem that its characteristic deteriorates. A method of driving a plasma display panel having a structure, in which at least three display electrodes X, Y, and Z used for a display discharge are provided to a display cell and no phosphor layer is formed between said display electrodes and a discharge space, the method comprising the steps of: varying a potential of at least one display electrode Z of said display electrodes during said display discharge; and making a potential of said at least one display electrode Z at a time of starting said display discharge different from that at a time of ending said display discharge.
