摘要: Disclosed is a process and apparatus that uses multiple stages or unit processes to treat wastewater, such as distillery spent wash which may be molasses spent wash (MSW). The stages include one or more of anaerobic digestion, chemical treatment, electrocoagulation, aerobic treatment, physical separation, and RO or adsorbent based treatment. A chemical treatment for the effluent from an anaerobic digester treating MSW is described. In an electrocoagulation step, a stable cathode is used to also provide electroflotation and hardness precipitation. Aerobic biological treatment and physical separation may be provided by a membrane bioreactor.

摘要: A circuit interrupter for interrupting current on a line conductor is provided. The circuit interrupter includes separable contacts, a trip mechanism, a bimetal, a microprocessor, a series arc detection sequence, a low-pass filter circuit, and a high-pass filter circuit. The trip mechanism selectively opens the separable contacts when activated. The series arc detection sequence is resident on the microprocessor and includes a plurality of series fault detection algorithms. The low-pass filter circuit provides a low-pass signal to the series arc detection sequence. The high-pass filter circuit provides a high-pass signal to the series arc detection sequence. The sequence selects a particular algorithm from the plurality of algorithms based on the low-pass signal. The sequence calculates a plurality of statistical features from the high-pass signal and sends an output signal to activate the trip mechanism based on a comparison of the plurality of statistical features to the particular algorithm.

摘要: The present invention concerns a method of providing advisory controls for a desalter system. The method allows a user to continuously monitor performance of the desalter system, to continuously monitor position of the emulsion band (or rag layer), to control the emulsion band using demulsifiers, and to recommend to users how to maintain optimal pressure drop at the mix valve of the desalter system. This is achieved by using a first principles based model combined with an ultra-sound sensor. The ultra-sound sensor measures the position, quality and size of the emulsion band. The first principles based model takes into account the geometry of the desalter system, physical properties of the crude oil and water, as well as the operating conditions. Thus, the method provides users with sensing of an emulsion layer through ultrasound measurements and also gives recommendations on appropriate corrective actions to be initiated during upsets.

摘要: A circuit interrupter for interrupting alternating current electrical signal on a line conductor of a circuit feeding a load, including: an electrical contact in operatively connected in series with the line conductor; a trip mechanism for selectively opening the electrical contact when activated; a current sensor connected in series with the line conductor for obtaining a sample alternating current electrical signal from the circuit feeding the load; a microprocessor in electrical communication with the trip mechanism and comprising a series arc fault detection program resident thereon; the series arc detection program comprising a discrete wavelet transform for determining the presence of a series arc fault current in the circuit feeding the load; wherein, when the discrete wavelet transform determines the presence of a series arc fault, the microprocessors signals the trip mechanism to activate and open the electrical contact in operatively connected in series with the line conductor.

摘要: A method of operating a waste water treatment plant (WWTP) having at least one of an aerobic digester (AD) and a membrane bioreactor (MBR) is described. The method of operating AD is comprised of monitoring and controlling AD in real-time using an online extended Kalman filter (EKF) having a online dynamic model of AD. The EKF uses real-time AD measured data, and online dynamic model of AD to update adapted model parameters and estimate model based inferred variables for AD, which are used for AD control by AD control system having supervisory and low-level control layers. The method of operating MBR is similar to that of AD. The supervisory control ensures the WWTP satisfying the effluent quality requirement while minimize the operation cost. A WWTP having at least one of AD or MBR is disclosed. The method of operating a WWTP can be implemented using a computer.
