摘要: A user equipment (UE) sends a simple message on a control channel to the base station (BS) that is using Machine Learning (ML) engine for random access (RA) procedures, the message being an indicator of a poor preamble detection performance of the BS upon UE observing repeated failure of random access attempts on the physical random access channel (PRACH). In response, the BS collects controlled preamble detection training data by selecting a plurality of trainer UEs and sending each UE a training random access configuration to use during a training cycle.

摘要: Massive MU-MIMO employs thousands of antennas at the base station. The number of antennas required to serve users vary from time to time as the number and profile of users change, affecting the operational efficiency of the base station. The embodiments presented here is a computationally efficient heuristic method and system components at the next generation base station transmitter that selects best set of antennas, limited by the total number of transmitter RF chains, and the corresponding prioritized set of users to be served by a time-frequency radio resource at time t. The method starts by selecting a group of antennas, and prioritizing users for that group using channel state information (CSI), and then by iteratively or concurrently adding (or deleting) antennas, and correspondingly by adding (or deleting) users at each step using a method to jointly solve the problem of selecting antennas and prioritizing users.

The ML engine is trained from time to time wherein one of the triggers for retraining is a plurality of User Equipment (UE) sending a message to the base station, according to an aspect of this invention, that is indicative of poor preamble detection performance, upon which the BS collects controlled preamble detection dataset by selecting and engaging a group of so-called trainer-UEs. The retraining is performed by using both aforementioned controlled as well as normal preamble detection operations.

摘要: An apparatus and method for a multi-service transmitter of an OFDM base station (BS) in a mixed numerology radio access network, wherein the transmitter uses a common cyclic prefix across all service types to eliminate inter-numerology interference (INI) by using a new Frequency Re-sampler (VR) component in the transmitter that converts streams of those services with smaller FFT sizes into a common larger FFT size in the frequency domain, which in effect increases their number of samples. The VR simply causes a multi-service transmitter to mimic a single-service transmitter thereby reducing the required number of ZF precoders to one and causing much fewer number of precoding operations. The transmitter sends resource configuration regarding the use of common CP for all services to each connected UE.

摘要: A receiver of a User Equipment in a mixed numerology multi-service OFDM radio access network receives a control message for resource configuration from the base station instructing the receiver to remove a common (fixed duration) cyclic prefix (CP0) regardless of service type when demodulating received radio signals. Upon this instruction, the receiver implements the method of removing the common cyclic prefix (CP0) every L time domain symbols wherein L=2μ for the service type that uses numerology μ. According to one embodiment, the common cyclic prefix (CP0) duration is chosen by the base station as the cyclic prefix of the service type with longest OFDM symbol in its mix of services. The receiver eliminates inter-numerology interference (INI) by equalizing the number of subcarriers used by all service types and their CP regardless of each service type's numerology.

摘要: The non-linear behavior of power amplifier is linearized using a pre-distorter that is adaptive to changes in the behavior of the power amplifier and uses an artificial neural network. According to embodiments presented here, the pre-distorter's artificial neural network is model-trained from time to time to learn the inverse of the transfer function of the power amplifier by using a second pre-distorter modeling system. The second modeling system determines the parameters of the inverse of the transfer function of the power amplifier using a least square method by using the (un-distorted) output signal samples of the power amplifier. Using the output of the second system as output to train the neural network enables the neural network to more successfully linearize the power amplifier's behavior. Furthermore, the trained artificial neural network as the pre-distorter can be implemented in hardware and presents a small form factor.
