摘要： The subject matter described herein includes methods, systems, and computer readable media for using policy knowledge of or obtained by a policy and charging rules function (PCRF) for needs based forwarding of bearer session traffic to network nodes. One exemplary system includes a PCRF. The PCRF includes a policy engine for identifying, using policy knowledge or obtained by the PCRF, zero or more network nodes hosting applications needed for processing packets of a bearer session. The PCRF further includes an application routing configurator for providing instructions to configure at least one configurable network element to forward bearer session traffic to any of the network nodes determined to be needed for processing packets associated with the bearer session and to bypass any of the network nodes not determined to be needed for processing packets associated with the bearer session.

According to one aspect, a method for providing dynamic steering of roaming in a telecommunications network includes a method for providing dynamic steering of roaming in a telecommunications network. The method includes, at a mobile telecommunications device, the device being associated with a subscriber of a first network carrier, receiving, from a source other than an operator of the first network carrier, information identifying a second network carrier that is different from the first network carrier. Based on the received information, the device either makes a change to a preferred roaming network carrier for the device by setting the second network carrier as a preferred roaming network carrier for the device, or connects to the second network carrier, where the second network carrier is not a preferred roaming network carrier for the device, and without changing the preferred roaming network carrier for the device.

摘要： A policy and charging rules function (PCRF), generates a Diameter audit message concerning an application level Diameter session for which local resources are maintained by the PCRF. The PCRF includes, in the audit message, a fake parameter value. The PCRF sends the audit message with the fake parameter value to the OCS or the AF over an Sy or Rx interface. The PCRF receives a response to the audit message from the OCS or AF. The PCRF determines, based on the response, whether the application level session comprises and orphan session. The PCRF, in response to determining that the application level Diameter session comprises an orphan session frees the local resources maintained by the PCRF for the orphan session.

摘要： Methods and systems for dynamic, rules-based peg counting are disclosed. According to one method, a user creates peg counter definitions using a rules-based language accessible via a graphical user interface. The peg counter definitions are downloaded from an administration server to network monitoring site collectors. The site collectors automatically detect the new peg counter definitions and begin using the new peg counter definitions without ceasing existing peg counting. Peg counter software on the site collectors periodically sends peg counter instances to a data gateway server. The data gateway server aggregates the peg counter instances generated by the various site collectors into system wide peg counter instances.
