    摘要: The present invention provides a phosphor that has high luminance, a property of low luminance degradation during PDP driving, and chromaticity y comparable to that of BAM:Eu. The present invention is the phosphor that is represented by the general formula xAO.y1EuO.y2EuO3/2.DO.zSiO2.wCaCl2 wherein A is at least one selected from Sr and Ba, D is at least one selected from Mg and Zn, and 2.970≦x≦3.500, 0.001≦y1+y2≦0.030, 1.900≦z≦2.100, and 0.001≦w≦0.100 are satisfied, and that has 50 mol % or less of the divalent Eu ratio (ratio of the divalent Eu element to the total of the Eu elements) in the vicinity of the surface of the phosphor particle.

    摘要: The present invention aims at realizing a PDP and a mercury-free fluorescent lamp feasible to maintain excellent luminescent characteristics over long periods by suppressing time-lapse changes in luminescent characteristics of a phosphor that is excited by vacuum ultraviolet light to thereby emit light. To accomplish this object, the oxide phosphor of the invention comprises individual particles, each of which has a region at and near the surface thereof modified, and the elemental composition of the surface region is in a more oxidized state than that of the internal region of the particles. Alternatively, the surface region has more halogen or chalcogen in the elemental composition. In the phosphor treatment method of the invention, the surface region of individual phosphor particles is selectively modified by (i) forming a highly reactive gas atmosphere by exciting gas which contains reactive gas, and (ii) exposing the phosphor to the gas atmosphere.

    摘要: A plasma display panel includes a front plate, a rear plate, and a bonding layer to bond the front plate to the rear plate. The front plate has a protective layer. The rear plate has a barrier rib. The protective layer includes a base layer. Aggregated particles are dispersed all over the base layer. The base layer contains a first metal oxide and a second metal oxide. Through an X-ray diffraction analysis, a peak of the base layer exists between a first peak of the first metal oxide, and a second peak of the second metal oxide. The first metal oxide and the second metal oxide are two kinds of oxides selected from a group consisting of MgO, CaO, SrO, and BaO. The rear plate has a barrier rib. The bonding layer bonds at least one part of the barrier rib to the protective layer.

    摘要: The present invention is a blue phosphor that is represented by a general formula xSrO.yEuO.MgO.zSiO2, where 2.970≦x≦3.500, 0.006≦y≦0.030, and 1.900≦z≦2.100. This blue phosphor has a crystal structure that is essentially a merwinite structure, and the crystal structure has a unit cell volume of 714.8 Å3 or less. Or, in this blue phosphor, a peak appearing around 2θ=22.86 degrees in an X-ray diffraction pattern obtained by measurement of the blue phosphor using an X-ray with a wavelength of 0.773 Å has a one-fifth value width of 0.17 degrees or less. Furthermore, the present invention is a light-emitting device having a phosphor layer including the phosphor. A suitable example of the light-emitting device is a plasma display panel.

In X-ray diffraction analysis, a peak of a base layer lies between a first peak of the first metal oxide and a second peak of the second metal oxide. The first and second metal oxides are two selected from the group consisting of MgO, CaO, SrO, and BaO. The concentration of calcium contained in the base layer ranges from not less than 1 atomic % to not greater than 5 atomic %. In X-ray diffraction analysis, the metal oxide exhibits one peak that lies between the minimum and the maximum of diffraction angles of single substances of the selected metal oxides in a specific plane direction (111).
