Abstract:
A machine translation system capable of obtaining a consistent translation for an entire document by taking context into account in translating each word or sentence. In this system, document information necessary to remove uncertainty in the translation due to a presence of a plurality of candidates for the translation is utilized whenever uncertainity due to a presence of a plurality of candidates for the translation arises by attempting to translate according to a translation dictionary containing rules for translation.
Abstract:
The degree of association between each document specified by each of the URLs included in the document transferred from a document providing system to a document requesting system and the document specified by the preceding document request is determined on the basis of the depth of link between the document specified by the preceding document request and each document specified by each URL or the degree of similarity between the contents of those documents. Using the thus obtained degree of association, a document to be received in advance is specified in the document requesting system. Consequently, even when a document having a lot of URLs is requested first or when each of the documents requested as related documents further includes a URL specifying another document, the document requesting system can specify documents closely related to the first requested document.

A machine translation system has a display section, an original storage section for storing an original sentence, a dictionary storing linguistical information necessary for translation processing, a translation processing section for translating the original sentence for each predetermined processing unit to obtain a translated sentence, a translation storage section for storing the translated sentence, an edit processing section for executing edit processing for the original and translated sentences, and an input section for inputting instruction information. In addition, the system has a display control section for realizing a first display mode for displaying the original and translated sentences respectively on original and translation display sections of a display screen of the display section, a second display mode for mainly displaying the original sentences on the display screen, and a third display mode for mainly displaying the translated sentences on the display screen. The display control section selectively switches the three display modes in response to information for instructing a display mode switching operation.
Abstract:
A language expression data base is adapted to store expression data of an input sentence of a first language to be translated into a second language and the expression data stored in the language expression data base is renewed under the control of an expression data input unit. An input basic form sentence structure data extracted from the input sentence of the first language is translated into a basic form sentence structure data of the second language at the sentence structure transfer unit. A basic form sentence of the second language is obtained on the basis of the basic form sentence structure data of which an expression is then modified according to the expression data stored in the language expression data base, and a modified sentence of the second language is displayed on a display through an output unit.
Abstract:
A machine translation system is capable of automatically and correctly analyzing a sentence having an inserted comment of a first language by means of a specific dictionary. The dictionary includes a first dictionary in accordance with which the inserted comment is extracted and analyzed and a second dictionary in accordance with which the other portion of the sentence than the inserted comments is analyzed. An analysis of the inserted comment and an analysis of the other portion are combined to obtain an analysis of the overall sentence. The translated sentence in the second language is produced in accordance with the analysis of the sentences which is combined. Furthermore, the translated inserted comment is displayed in a distinguishable manner. Specifically, a symbol for showing the inserted comment is added to the translated inserted comment. The translated sentence is displayed for including the inserted comment with the symbol.

A machine translation system has an input unit for inputting an original sentence, a dictionary section for storing language information used in translation processing, a translation processor for translation-processing the original sentence with reference to the language information stored in the dictionary section, and an output unit for outputting a translated sentence obtained by the translation processor. The translation processor has an analysis section, a translated sentence generation section, and a punctuation mark generation section. The analysis section analyzes the original sentence. The translated sentence generation section generates the translated sentence in accordance with the analysis result of the analysis section. The punctuation mark generation section generates a punctuation mark substantially independently of a punctuation mark present in the original sentence, and appropriately inserts it in the translated sentence.
Abstract:
An automatic syntax analyzing method is applied to a natural language processing system. It includes the step of detecting by dictionary consultation the syntactic category of words forming an inputted sentence and steps of assumptively applying, when the input sentence includes at least a word unregistered in the dictionary section, an adequate category which satisfies a predetermined grammatical regulation of the input sentence to the unregistered word independent of the dictionary consultation.
Abstract:
A machine translation system includes a translation processor, a display, and a display controller. The display has original and translated sentence display sections. The display controller has a display managing section and a display format controller. The translation processor translates a given original sentence by accessing a dictionary. The translated and original sentences are displayed in the translated and original sentence display sections, i.e., right and left display sections of the display. The original and translated sentences are managed by the display magaging section in predetermined units of translation processing. The display format controller controls the original and translated sentences such that start lines of a given group thereof are horizontally aligned with each other.

A machine translation system including an input unit, a first text memory, a translation dictionary, a translation processor, a second text memory, and a control editor. The first and second text memories respectively store an original text and a translated text. The translation dictionary includes a word/idiom dictionary. The translation processor executes translation processing of the original text using the content of the translation dictionary to obtain the translated text. The control editor controls the respective units, and performs edit processing of at least the translated text. The control editor includes a changing section for changing a translated word in the translated text corresponding to a designated word in the original text to another translated word, and a replacing section for, when the translated word in the translated text corresponding to the designated word in the original text is changed to another translated word by the changing section, providing priority to a translated word in which a translated word portion corresponding to the designated word in the original text is replaced with the other translated word as a translated word corresponding to an entry word including the designated word in the original text in the word/idiom dictionary.
