Abstract:
Certain embodiments reduce the risks of traditionally programmed algorithms such as syntax errors, unclear logic, and the need for a non-trader programmer to develop the algorithm as specified by a trader by reducing or eliminating the writing of programming code by a user. Certain embodiments provide a design canvas area and blocks for designing an algorithm. Certain embodiments provide for grouping blocks placed in the design canvas area. Certain embodiments provide for virtualized group blocks enabling dynamic instantiation of portions of an algorithm to handle particular discrete events. Certain embodiments provide for operation of some or all portions of an algorithm when a connection between a client device and an algorithm server is broken.
Abstract:
An apparatus comprises a mask, a sensor body configured to be attached to the mask, and an electronic module for producing an output in response to air flow through the sensor body.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for joint replacement are provided. The systems and methods include a surgical orientation device, a reference sensor device, and at least one orthopedic fixture. The surgical orientation device, reference sensor device, and orthopedic fixtures can be used to locate the orientation of an axis in the body, to adjust an orientation of a cutting plane or planes along a bony surface, or otherwise to assist in an orthopedic procedure(s).
Abstract:
Site-specific Listeria integration vectors and methods for their use are provided. The subject vectors include a bacteriophage integrase gene and a bacteriophage attachment site, where in many embodiments the bacteriophage that is the source of these elements is a listeriophage. In certain embodiments, the subject vectors further include a multiple cloning site, where the multiple cloning site may further include a polypeptide coding sequence, e.g., for a heterologous antigen. The subject vectors and methods find use in a variety of different applications, including the study of Listeria species and the preparation of Listeria vaccines.
Abstract:
A method of steering a channel estimation search window, the method comprising providing a series of raw CIR tap values to span a channel estimation search window containing a sub-window whose contents are intended to be passed for further processing to produce a refined CIR estimate, determining, amongst a plurality of groups of continuous tap values within the window, the group containing the largest amount of signal energy and time-shifting the window as necessary to arrange that the group so determined occupies the sub-window.
Abstract:
Video images in, e.g., a multimedia stream are scanned prior to compression for transmission to recognize symbols, such as graphics symbols and alpha-numeric characters. The types, positions, sizes, etc. of the symbols are recorded to render symbol information, and then the images are compressed with or without compressing the symbols, which may be removed from the images prior to compression if desired. The compressed video and symbol information are sent to a receiver, which decompresses the video, optionally transforms the symbols, and then inserts the symbols where indicated by the symbol information.
Abstract:
A method used to form a semiconductor device provides a silicide layer on a plurality of transistor word lines and on a plurality of conductive plugs. In one embodiment, the word lines, one or more sacrificial dielectric layers on the word lines, conductive plugs, and a conductive enhancement layer are formed through the use of a single mask. An in-process semiconductor device which may be formed using one embodiment of the inventive method is also described.
Abstract:
A wireless transmission system for multimedia in information having plural layers includes a base station (BTS) and a mobile station (MS) that can select which layers to transmit based on reported channel conditions, mobile location, and/or forward error correction (FEC) used for a particular layer, A respective FEC rate and/or power level can be dynamically established for each layer by a mobile station dependent, on available bandwidth and or reception and decoding capability of the BTS.
Abstract:
The invention includes methods of forming isolation regions. An opening can be formed to extend into a semiconductor material, and an upper periphery of the opening can be protected with a liner while a lower periphery is unlined. The unlined portion can then be etched to form a widened region of the opening. Subsequently, the opening can be filled with insulative material to form an isolation region. Transistor devices can then be formed on opposing sides of the isolation region, and electrically isolated from one another with the isolation region. The invention also includes semiconductor constructions containing an electrically insulative isolation structure extending into a semiconductor material, with the structure having a bulbous bottom region and a stem region extending upwardly from the bottom region to a surface of the semiconductor material.
Abstract:
Methods for forming accurate, symmetric cross-section spacers of hardmask material on a substrate such as a silicon wafer or quartz substrate, for formation of precise subresolution features useful for forming integrated circuits. The resulting symmetrical hardmask spacers with their symmetric upper portions may be used to accurately etch well-defined, high aspect ratio features in the underlying substrate. Some disclosed methods also enable simultaneous formation of hardmask structures of various dimensions, of both conventional and subresolution size, to enable etching structural features of different sizes in the underlying substrate.
