Abstract:
A daisy-chainable game exchange facilitates social networking among at least two game consoles by allowing gamers to share audio information, such as voice communication, without having to play the identical game or connect via a local area network or a wide area network such as the Internet. Control of voice communication and game audio information is facilitated to allow gamers to focus better on social networking through a stream of voice communication or to refocus on game play through the stream of game audio information without losing either stream.
Abstract:
An apparatus is disclosed for extending a bumper on a motor vehicle having driven wheels. The apparatus includes a drive to derive power from the rotating wheels, an actuator for extending the bumper, and a controller for connecting the actuator to the drive. When bumper extension is desired, drive power is transferred from the motor vehicle's rotating wheels to the actuator to effect deployment of the bumper.
Abstract:
A radar electronics module includes a support structure having a first surface having a plurality of recesses with a transmitter circuit board and a receiver circuit board disposed thereon. The transmitter and receiver circuit boards are disposed over the first surface of the supports structure such that transmitter and receive circuits are disposed in cavities on the support structure. The radar electronics module further includes a digital/power supply circuit printed wiring board (PWB) disposed on a second surface of the support structure and a connector disposed on the support structure. The connector is disposed in such a way that it provides electrical connections for at least one of power signals, analog signals or digital signals between at least two of the digital/power supply PWB, the transmitter circuit board and the receiver circuit board.
Abstract:
A method of producing a synthetic fuel by treating fines of bituminous coal with an emulsion of a tall-oil mix, which may include enhancers that either increase the chemical change in the coal or reduce the cost of the synthetic fuel. Enhancers include poly vinyl acetate (PVA) and/or ethyl vinyl acetate (EVA), glycol, lignosulfonate, beet sugar bottoms, corn bottoms, brewery bottoms, vegetable tall oil, vegetable oil, and/or spent frying oil. The emulsion is sprayed into, and reacted with, the coal fines, resulting in a cost effective and industry-usable source of synthetic fuel.
Abstract:
A post-operative support apparatus for a patient's residual limb includes: a planar, stretchable and flexible wrap panel sized to wrap around an outer circumference of a patient's residual limb, along a length of the patient's residual limb, where the wrap panel includes one or more fasteners (such as hook & loop fastener components) for maintaining the wrap panel in place around the patient's residual limb; a pair of substantially rigid, elongated side support panels to respectively apply to the medial and lateral sides of the patient's residual limb, over the wrap panel; a distal cushion to apply against a distal end of the patient's residual limb; and a retainer maintaining the distal cushion against the patient's residual limb.
Abstract:
A magnetic motor system includes a brushless motor with interdigitated permanent magnets longitudinally mounted on a rotor at equal radial positions, and stator windings to drive the rotor in response to pulses from a timer/driver, and stationary recapture windings to recover energy that would otherwise go to waste. One set of batteries is used to drive the motor through the timer/driver, and bridge rectifiers connected to the stationary recapture windings provide electrical current to charge a second set of batteries. The rotor shaft output provides kinetic energy to drive electrical generators, air compressors, etc. A shaft encoder connected to the rotor provides the information needed by the timer/driver to know which stator winding should be pulsed and with what polarity. A power pulse is provided at least every 12.5 degrees of rotation, making the motor self starting.
Abstract:
A latch assembly includes a latch and a casing having a base integrally formed with outer walls, wherein a latch chamber is defined by the base and the outer walls. The casing securely retains the latch within the latch chamber and allows limited movement of the latch within the latch chamber during an impact. Thus, the latch may move within a storage bin door upon impact, thereby preventing unlatching.
Abstract:
A magnetic air car uses a magnetic motor to compress input air and save moderately compressed high-pressure air in storage tanks. The compressor and storage tanks deliver the high-pressure working air and operational flows to several stages of compressors that boost the pressures during driving to very high-pressure, then ultra high-pressure, then super high-pressure, and finally to extremely high-pressure. A pneumatic torque converter uses jets of the extremely high-pressure to turn an input shaft of a transmission and differential. These, in turn, drive the powered wheels of a car. The compressors float a connecting shaft with matching vanes and impellers on opposite ends on air bearings to reduce shaft turning friction to near zero. The balance of forces between the two ends of a coupled turbo pair allow a simple air bearing design to operate safely and reliably at high rotational speeds.
Abstract:
A programmable thermostat is disclosed having a continuously movable indexing mechanism, such as a rotatable wheel, that allows a user to scroll or cycle through sequential time intervals ranging over a complete week to view currently programmed time intervals and to select periods of time during the week that the user wishes to program or reprogram. Such a design allows a user to easily program different temperature settings during different time intervals during the week and allows the user to easily view the programmed settings.
