Abstract:
Novel compounds based on diaminostilbene are provided. The compounds conform to the general structures The compounds are useful as optical brighteners. Compositions, such as laundry compositions, containing such compounds are also provided.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to thiazolium dyes and laundry care compositions comprising one or more thiazolium dyes. The dyes and compositions are advantageous in providing improved hueing of fabric, including whitening of white fabric, while avoiding significant build up of bluing dyes on the fabric.
Abstract:
This invention relates to unsubstituted and polymeric leuco colorants for use as consumer product additives to indicate a product function by color change, to make attractive or distinctive visual effects, or to provide latent or delayed color generation. The colorants may be present in a stable, colorless state and may be transformed to an intense colored state upon exposure to certain physical or chemical changes. Alternatively, the colorants may be transformed from one color to another color upon exposure to certain physical or chemical changes. The colored form of the unsubstituted or polymeric leuco colorant may be transient, since the colorant can revert back to its colorless form or its original color after the physical or chemical activation has been removed or changed. Polymeric leuco colorants are typically comprised of at least two components: at least one leuco chromophore component and at least one polymeric component.
Abstract:
Apparatus, systems and methods for mobile spinal fixation rod systems. A central housing may be formed in part from the enlarged end of a connection rod and may house a flexible insert in a cavity thereof. The enlarged head of a flexion rod may be disposed in the flexible insert and retained in the cavity by a coupler completing the central housing. A rod system of the present invention is capable of deflection, distraction and compression to preserve motion while providing fixation to the attached vertebrae.
Abstract:
A transverse connector system for coupling elongate elements to each other in a spinal fixation system. An upper arm member and a lower arm member are connected by a washer and locking bolt to form a transverse plate. The distal ends of the upper arm member and the lower arm member each include a swivel rod connector and may be attached to a locking rod connector using a locking bolt to secure an elongate fixation element therein. The upper arm member and lower arm member are laterally adjustable and pivotably adjustable with respect to one another due to the washer and slot connection, and thus accommodate divergences and convergences in the attached rods.
Abstract:
This invention relates to new compositions and methods for cleaning textile substrates, especially carpet and upholstery fabrics. More particularly, this invention relates to liquid compositions that contain absorbent particles in a flowable fluid dispersion, which dries to a soil ladened powder, that can be removed by vacuuming, brushing, and/or laundering methods. The composition includes dispersion stabilizing additives such that the composition is presented as a stable dispersion or as a composition that may be easily redispersed prior to application.
Abstract:
This invention relates to novel whitening agents for cellulosic substrates. The whitening agents are comprised of at least two components: at least one chromophore component and at least one polymeric component. Suitable chromophore components generally fluoresce blue, red, violet, or purple color when exposed to ultraviolet light, or they may absorb light to reflect these same shades. The whitening agents are further characterized by having a dispersion component value of the Hansen Solubility Parameter of less than or equal to about 17 MPa0.5. This invention also relates to laundry care compositions including but not limited to liquid and/or powder laundry detergent formulations and rinse added fabric softening (RAFS) compositions that comprise such whitening agents.
Abstract:
Novel addition products of isocyanates with oxyalkylene-substituted aminophenol compounds as intermediates for the production of urethane-substituted xanthene colorants, particularly triphenylmethane derivatives such as rhodarnines, are provided. The xanthene colorants exhibit improved wax and/or oil solubility and high purity. The urethane-substituted xanthene, colorant features very good wax and/or oil solubility, and is believed to be relatively nontoxic. A method for producing this novel colorant is also provided.
