    摘要: A hot melt machine comprises a hopper for granular thermoplastic resin having a bottom outlet across which an electrically heated melting grid extends. A funnel beneath the grid collects molten resin and guides it to fall into a small, open-topped heated reservoir spaced below it. A gear pump, driven by a constant torque motor and having its inlet communicated with a bottom outlet in the reservoir, forces the melt towards points of use. A sensor in the reservoir controls grid energization in accordance with reservoir liquid level. A heat shield between funnel and reservoir, having a hole through which melt falls, prevents reservoir heat from affecting grid operation.

    摘要: A packaging machine wherein a web of paperboard is continuously drawn along a defined path, under a loading device by which articles or products to be packaged are successively deposited upon the web to be carried thereby through a certain or sheet of molten thermoplastic resin which debouches for downwardly opening nozzle, to lay itself onto and form a covering film on the web and over any articles or products thereon. The mouth of the nozzle is a slit which extends transversely across a vacuum chamber by which any space between the close to the web while its mid-portion is spaced much farther from the web. The film covered web then travels across a vacuum chamber by which any space between the covering film and the web is evacuated and the film drawn tightly over the articles or products and against the web. A series of closely spaced parallel rollers across the top of the vacuum chamber with their axes transverse to the web supports the web, and certain of the rollers are driven to draw the web through the machine. Beyond the vacuum chamber, the web with the covered articles or products thereon enters a guillotine type cutoff station where it is cut into discrete units each of which is a complete package.

    摘要: An armature winding machine in which flyers rotating about an axis that intersects the axis of an armature core held in a winding receiving position wind wire drawn from a supply thereof onto the armature core, and wire gripping and wire cutting devices automatically grip the stretch of wire leading from each flyer to the armature core at the completion of the winding operation, and cut the same between the portions thereof in the grasp of the wire gripping devices and the armature, while the armature is still in the winding receiving position, so that the length of wire that is not a part of the wound armature and must be cut off is considerably shorter than was possible with prior winding machines. In the more sophisticated embodiment of the disclosed machine, the wire cutting devices cut the wire directly adjacent to the commutator tangs to which the starting leads and the ending leads of the wound armature are attached; but in all embodiments of the disclosed invention, the wire gripping devices hold the ends of the stretches of wire leading from the flyers from the instant they grasp the wire at the completion of the armature winding operation, until the next-to-be wound armature core has replaced the just-wound armature and the winding operation has been re-started.

    摘要: An armature winding machine of the type wherein the ending and starting leads of the coils successively wound onto the core by a pair of oppositely rotating flyers, are attached to the segments or bars of the commutator of the armature by stuffing them into slots cut into the bars, which machine is characterized by the provision of automatically functioning means to assure exact alignment between the lead tucking blades of the lead attaching instrumentalities and the commutator slots before the leads are driven into the slots, this being accomplished by optical sensing means which takes cognizance of the position of the commutator slot with respect to the lead attaching instrumentalities, produces a signal indicative of that relationship and initiates the operation of corrective drive means by which the lead attaching instrumentalities are brought into exact alignment with the mouth of the slot.

A transparent thermoplastic film, applied over dry cells and substrate, is vacuum drawn into skin-like engagement with them. The substrate is folded to have a base panel overlying the upper ends of the cells, cover panels flatwise overlying the base panel, and flatwise contiguous adhered tabs projecting up from the cover panels and which have registering holes to receive a rack hook. One cover panel can have windows registering with the terminal holes in the base panel.
