    Abstract: A device is configured to be mounted to a planar mounting panel, including, for example, a wall or ceiling of a home or other building. The device includes a housing, a fastener, a dogleg tab and a friction inducing member. The housing is configured to be received in an aperture in the mounting panel and includes a housing aperture. The fastener is disposed in the housing aperture. The dogleg tab is operatively coupled to one end of the fastener. The dogleg tab is configured to be disposed in a retracted position and to be disposed in an engagement position, in which engagement position the dogleg tab is disposed to engage an inside surface of the mounting panel. The friction inducing member is fixedly attached to the housing adjacent the housing aperture and friction-fit to the fastener.

    Abstract: Systems and techniques for detecting and recognizing a railcar identifier are described herein. An image of a railcar can be captured by an image sensor and provided to processing circuitry of a controller. A bounded portion of the image corresponding to the railcar identifier can be identified and a character recognition process can be performed to identify respective values for characters of the railcar identifier. A check digit can be computed using the identified values to validate the railcar identifier. In some examples, the bounded portion of the image can be automatically adjusted when the check digit fails to validate the railcar identifier.

    Abstract: A method can include receiving a first railcar data set from a first image capture device. The first railcar data set can include a first image of a portion of a first railcar, which can include a representation of a first railcar identifier. Receiving a second railcar data set from a second image capture device. The second railcar data set can include a second image of a portion of an unknown railcar, which can include a representation of a second railcar identifier. The method can include using the representation of the first railcar identifier, identifying one or more characters in the first railcar identifier, and using the representation of the second railcar identifier, identifying one or more characters in the second railcar identifier. Determining a railcar identifier recognition result for the first railcar based on a correspondence between the identified characters in the first and second railcar identifiers.

    Abstract: An audio firewall system has a microphone that generates audio data. A speech-to-text engine converts the audio data to text data. The text data is parsed for a service wake word and corresponding content data. The service wake word identifies one of a local security system and a remote assistant server. A text-to-speech engine converts the service wake word and the corresponding content data to converted audio data. The converted audio data is provided to the remote assistant server. The content data is provided to the local security system. The audio firewall system receives a response from the remote assistant server or the local security system and outputs an audio signal corresponding to the response.

    Abstract: Systems and techniques for detecting a railcar identifier are described herein. A method can include receiving railcar image information including at least an image portion that contains, or is likely to contain, a railcar identifier for a first railcar at a data input stage of a railcar identification processor. The method can also include analyzing the railcar image information to identify characters of the railcar identifier for the first railcar at a recognition stage of the railcar identification processor. The analyzing of the railcar image information can include using two or more of a confidence algorithm, a result frequency algorithm, and a per-character algorithm. The method can also include providing a first recognition result with information about the identified characters of the railcar identifier for the first railcar at an output stage of the railcar identification processor.
