摘要: Means and methods for therapeutic intervention of mitochondrial disorders or diseases, and in particular to a method for the treatment, prevention and/or amelioration of a disorder or disease correlated with mitochondrial stress or dysfunction, a mitochondrial disorder or disease, or a disorder or disease characterized by OPA1 alterations. Thereby, a pharmaceutically active amount of a compound capable of modulating the activity of OMA1 and/or an oligomeric complex of OMA1 is administered to a patient in need of medical intervention. Methods of screening for a compound capable of modulating the activity of OMA1 and/or an oligomeric complex comprising OMA1 are performed. Methods for determining the susceptibility for, predisposition for, or the presence of such a disorder or disease and whether a person in need will benefit from the therapeutic intervention, i.e., personalized medicine are also performed.

摘要: Systems, devices, and methods for visual displays are described. Such visual displays may be used in a retail environment to provide interactive presentations to customers. The visual displays may include a display panel, a visual source, and a controller. The display panel may present images and/or video to a user, in which the images and/or video are generated by the visual source. The controller may determine the types of images and/or video to be presented based upon communications received from a user via a communication device or a user kiosk. The display panel may be a variable height and may be offset from the floor or a shelf by a variable distance. A plurality of display panels may be arranged on a display floor to provide retail experiences to customers and/or may be received by one or more docks placed in the display floor.

摘要: There is provided a device to generate an output light. The device comprises a substrate, a quantum well structure (QWS) disposed on the substrate, and a waveguide disposed on the substrate and in contact with the QWS. The QWS has a first layer, a second layer, and a third layer. The second layer is disposed and quantum-confined between the first layer and the third layer. In addition, the second layer is to emit an input light when electrically biased. The input light has an optical field extending outside the QWS and into the waveguide, to optically couple the waveguide with the QWS. The waveguide is to provide an optical resonance cavity for the input light. Moreover, the waveguide has an optical outlet to transmit at least some of the input light out of the waveguide to generate the output light.

摘要: There is provided a method of operating a laser. The method comprises receiving a target power and calculating an operating power of a lasing module of the laser. The operating power may be calculated based on the target power and a minimum lasing power of the lasing module. The method also comprises determining an operating current for the lasing module based on the operating power, and driving the lasing module at the operating current to produce an output light having the operating power. In addition, the method comprises providing the output light to an optical modulator of the laser, and operating the optical modulator to modulate the output light to have an output power corresponding to the target power.

摘要: A wearable device includes a wearable body that in use is worn on or proximate a skin of a wearer and a wearable antenna embedded in the wearable body and insulated from the wearable body. The wearable antenna includes a microwave dielectric substrate having a first major surface, a second major surface opposed to the first major surface, and a relative permittivity of at least 90. An electrically conductive patch is disposed on the first major surface, a feed line is connected to a feed point of the electrically conductive patch, and an electrically conductive ground plane is disposed on a far side of the second major surface relative to the first major surface.

摘要: An ear saddle point of a subject's ear is determined to produce specifications to fit a wearable apparatus to a subject's head. A boundary of the subject's ear in a profile image is determined using a first model. A map of the subject's ear is generated indicating probable locations of a two-dimensional ear saddle point. A most probable location of the two-dimensional ear saddle point is determined based on the probability map. The two-dimensional ear saddle point is projected onto a three-dimensional mesh surface representing the subject's head. A maximum depth of the three-dimensional mesh surface is determined in a defined region around the projected two-dimensional ear saddle point. The ear saddle point is computed based on the projected two-dimensional ear saddle point and the determined maximum depth. Specifications of a wearable apparatus are generated to fit the apparatus to the subject's head based on the computed ear saddle point.

摘要: There is provided a method of operating a wearable heads-up display (WHUD), which method includes generating first and second lights having respectively first and second wavelengths within about 50 nm of one another. The method also includes directing the first and second lights onto an incoupler of a display optic of the WHUD along first and second ranges of input angles respectively. The first and second ranges of input angles correspond to positions of pixels of first and second portions of an image to be displayed by the WHUD. The incoupler has first and second angular bandwidths corresponding to the first and second wavelengths respectively. A combination of the first and second ranges of input angles is larger than each of the first and second angular bandwidths. Moreover, the method includes directing the first and second lights into a field of view of a user to form the image.
