    摘要: A closed coupled identification system for verifying the identity of an animal, object or other thing, has a probe including a circuit adapted to be connected to a source of alternating current and a separate, preferably miniature, circuit adapted to be implanted within or attached to the animal, object or thing. The probe circuit is held adjacent the implanted circuit for mutually inductively coupling the circuits so that a load applied to the implanted circuit has an effect on the current in the probe circuit. A programmable load is included in the implanted circuit, along with means for sequentially connecting and disconnecting the load to and from the implanted circuit in response to alternating current cycles in the probe circuit, according to a predetermined code program. A signal is derived from the probe circuit having a waveform corresponding to the coded program in the implant circuit. Further means are employed to decode the waveform and to display a number or other representation corresponding to the code program and indicating the identity of the implanted circuit, and, hence of the animal, object or thing.

    摘要: An improved radio frequency identification (RFID) tag and related reader system and process are provided, wherein the RFID tag includes an on-board battery for enhanced signal transmission range, relatively rapid signal transmission speed, and optimized completion of a data transaction between the tag and a reader. The RFID tag further includes a power management system for activating the tag battery on an as-needed basis, and for thereupon enabling limited portions of the tag circuitry as required for a specific communication protocol, thereby conserving battery power and prolonging battery service life. In one preferred form, the battery is integrated with an antenna structure of single or dual mode with respect to frequency or type. This combination battery-antenna may be designed for recharging from a source of ambient energy.

The sensors may obtain information about the wearer such as a fingerprint, retina, iris, blood, DNA, genetic data, voice pattern, temperature and other characteristic. Security features include a fastener on the identification appliance, which indicates whether the appliance has been attached to a wearer and if so, enables circuit functions. If one tampers with the appliance, circuit functions may be disabled, certain data erased, and/or evidence of tampering made apparent. The appliance may monitor the location or determine the identity of passengers for an airplane, train, boat, bus, or other vehicle. Alternatively, the identification band may contain a person's immigration status.

    摘要: An electronic lock assembly is actuated by a key including a transponder. The key is received within a coil assembly of the lock assembly. The key engages a switch that powers the coil assembly. The coil assembly generates a magnetic field that energizes the transponder. The transponder transmits a signal received by a controller. The controller actuates the lock assembly responsive to the received signal to move a locking member to an unlocked position. The key may then move to unlatch a latch associated with the lock assembly. As the key provides the energy required for unlatching the latch further energization of the motor is not required. The lock assembly provides for the actuation and energization of the transponder with small amounts electrical energy such that the lock assembly may be powered by commercially available batteries for a practical operational life.
