Abstract:
A fluid-ejection device includes a handheld and/or mountable enclosure, a pneumatic fitting, an electrical connector, and a controller. The pneumatic fitting extends from and/or through the enclosure and is receptive to placement of a tip thereon. The tip contains a supply of fluid, a fluid-ejection mechanism, and an electrical connector for the fluid-ejection mechanism. The electrical connector extends from and/or through the enclosure and is receptive to electrical coupling of the electrical connector of the tip. The controller is situated within the enclosure to cause the tip to eject the fluid via the electrical coupling of the electrical connectors of the tip and the fluid-ejection device.
Abstract:
A system for sensing a property of a fluid comprises a fluid channel operable to receive the fluid therein, a flexible arm having a free end positioned within at least a portion of the fluid channel, a fluid actuator disposed sufficiently close to the flexible arm such that actuation of the fluid actuator induces movement of the flexible arm when the fluid is present, and a deflection sensing system operable to quantifiably detect movement of the flexible arm.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a fluid ejection device comprises a substrate having a first surface, and a fluid slot in the first surface. The device further comprises a fluid ejector formed over the first surface of the substrate, and a chamber layer formed over the first surface of the substrate. The chamber layer defines a chamber about the fluid ejector, wherein fluid flows from the fluid slot towards the to be ejected therefrom. The chamber layer has a discontinuity, wherein the discontinuity is positioned over the fluid slot.

Abstract:
A print head die (30) includes slot ribs (41) having edges (62, 64) with triangular notches. In one embodiment, the print head die is formed by dry etching from a first side (50) of a wafer (30) a series of spaced openings (220) completely through the wafer (30) and separated by ribs (41) followed by wet etching the wafer (30) from a second opposite side (44) to recess the ribs (41) from the second side (44).
Abstract:
A print head (24, 224, 424, 624) includes a layer (36, 236) which at least partially forms firing chambers (42, 242) and ribs (46, 246, 646) in contact with opposing side walls of a fluid feed slot (40, 240) while extending from a first side wall to a second opposite side wall within the fluid feed slot (40, 240).

Abstract:
One exemplary fluid ejection device includes a substrate having one or more layers positioned thereon. The fluid ejection device also includes a fluid-feed path extending through a space which is defined, at least in part, by the one or more layers. The fluid ejection device including methods and structures for managing air and amongst other things gas bubble formation.
