The winding of the coil includes a common portion used in common to form part of the first coil portion and part of the second coil portion.

    摘要: A first side shield has a first sidewall and a second sidewall. A second side shield has a third sidewall and a fourth sidewall. The distance between the first sidewall and the third sidewall decreases with increasing proximity to the top surface of a substrate. The second and fourth sidewalls are close to perpendicular to the top surface of the substrate. Each of the second and fourth sidewalls has an edge farthest from the top surface of the substrate, the edge being parallel to the medium facing surface.     摘要: A magnetic material which may be employed as a thin film magnetic layer within magnetic heads, and a method for forming the magnetic material as a thin film magnetic layer for use within magnetic heads. The magnetic material has an elemental composition comprising about 40 to about 60 weight percent iron, about 40 to about 60 weight percent nickel and about 0.002 to about 1 weight percent tin. The magnetic material may be formed as a thin film magnetic layer for use within a magnetic head through an electrochemical plating method employing an aqueous plating solution comprising iron (II) ions, nickel (II) ions and tin (II) ions. When electrodeposited and anisotropically magnetically aligned, or when thermally annealed and anisotropically magnetically aligned the thin film magnetic layer possess a higher saturation magnetization, a higher anisotropy, a comparable easy axis coercivity, a lower hard axis permittivity and a higher resistivity than conventional thin film magnetic layers formed of permalloy (nickel-iron 80:20 w/w) alloys.

The first and second heat sink layers are each made of SiC or AlN. The nonmagnetic layer is made of a material that is lower in thermal conductivity at 25° C. than alumina.

    摘要: A magnetic head includes a main magnetic pole, a shield having an end face located in a medium facing surface to wrap around an end face of the main magnetic pole, and a gap part provided between the main magnetic pole and the shield. The shield includes a bottom shield, two side shields, and a top shield. The gap part includes first and second gap layers. In a manufacturing method of the magnetic head, a mold is formed on the top surface of the bottom shield, the mold having a shape determined by photolithography and being intended to be removed later. Next, the two side shields are formed on the top surface of the bottom shield by performing plating without forming a seed layer. Next, the mold is removed and then the first gap layer, the main magnetic pole, the second gap layer, and the top shield are formed in succession.

    摘要: A system and method for producing micro-texture on a slider substrate using chemical & mechanical polishing techniques is described. In certain embodiments of the present invention, this is accomplished by a method comprising formulating an abrasive slurry solution of predetermined acidity (or pH value), treating a chemical mechanical polishing pad with the abrasive slurry, disposing magnetic heads on the chemical mechanical polishing pad and lapping and grinding the magnetic heads for a predetermined period of time. In certain embodiment of the present invention the lapping and grinding of the magnetic heads are accomplished using an apparatus comprising an abrasive slurry solution of predetermined acidity (pH value), a chemical mechanical polishing pad treated with the abrasive slurry solution, wherein the magnetic heads are attached to a fixture capable of disposing the heads on the chemical mechanical polishing pad.
