摘要： A semiconductor laser such as a laser diode includes a semiconductor substrate and a laser diode region disposed on said semiconductor substrate and having a laser beam emission end. The semiconductor substrate has a front surface directly below said laser beam emission end, said front surface being retracted from said laser beam emission end. The front surface may be formed as an optically roughened surface as a side wall surface of a groove when the groove is defined in the semiconductor substrate by dicing. The laser diode region includes an active layer of GaAs or AlGaAs. The front surface may further be optically roughened by etching or sputtering.

摘要： It is an object of the present invention to provide an absorbent article having an excellent utilization efficiency of an absorber. The object is attained by an absorbent article including: a leak preventer including a bottom surface part extending in a front-rear direction, and side parts raised to an upper side at both left and right sides of the bottom surface part; an absorber containing super absorbent polymer for absorbing a body fluid placed in an internal space formed by the bottom surface part and the side parts of the leak preventer in at least one layer; and a liquid guide unit placed in a front body part of the internal space, at a position where a flow of discharged urine directly collides with the liquid guide unit, for moving, when urine is discharged, the urine from the position where the urine has collided therewith to other positions.

摘要： A cooling drum for a twin-drum continuous casting machine is capable of ensuring an excellent drum body interior cooling effect and advantageously overcoming both the problem of wear of the cooling drum end portions that are pressure-contacted with, and slide on, the side dams and the problem of their local deformation, and that, as a result, can ensure long-term maintenance of a suitable pressure-contact sliding state between the side dams and the cooling drum so as to enable stable continuous casting over a prolonged period. The cooling drum comprises a drum body portion of a material having a thermal conductivity of 100-400 W/mK and drum end portions part or all of whose portions in pressure-contact with the side dams and/or part or all of whose inner regions are formed of a reinforcing material that is a high-hardness material having a Vickers hardness HV (250 g) of 300-600.

摘要： A method of implementing an electrolytic polishing process against a wiring-material film by way of preventing excessive polishing or incomplete polishing caused by presence of differential steps locally generated in the objective wiring-material film. The inventive method comprises a step of forming a wiring-material film for burying recessed portions formed on an insulating film formed on a substrate via a plating process; a step of reducing a local differential step generated on the surface of the wiring-material film by way of preserving the wiring material film on the insulating film; and a final step of removing the wiring-material film deposited on the insulating film by way of preserving such wiring-material film deposited, solely inside of the recessed portions.
