Abstract:
The invention provides an aqueous binder for granular and/or fibrous substrates, said binder comprising, as active constituents, a polyamine and a saccharide compound.
Abstract:
The invention provides aqueous binder systems comprising at least one polymeric carboxylic acid, at least one saccharide compound and at least one alkanolamine having at least two hydroxyl groups.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to formaldehyde-free aqueous binders for substrates, having a broad molecular weight distribution and comprising (A) from 0 to 100% by weight of an ethylenically unsaturated acid anhydride or ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid whose carboxylic acid groups can form an anhydride group, or mixtures thereof, (B) from 100 to 0% by weight of an ethylenically unsaturated compound, (C) at least one polyfunctional crosslinker or mixtures thereof, the polymers of A) and B) obtained by free-radical addition polymerization, when classified in a coordinate system by way of their average molecular weight Mw and their polydispersity, being situated in the area above a straight line which is defined by the linear equation y=1.25x+20 000 and has been shifted in y direction parallelwise by at least +3 000, the x axis denoting the weight-average molecular weight and the y axis the polydispersity times 10 000.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the use of polyacrylic acids which contain organic terminal groups containing sulphur, comprising at least two carbon atoms, having an average molecular weight Mw of 5 000-30 000 g/mol and which are at least partially neutralized by a base which is selected from the group of alkali hydroxides and ammonia as auxiliary agents for wet grinding of calcium carbonate. The invention also relates to fine particle aqueous suspensions of calcium carbonate which are produced by wet grinding of calcium carbonate in the presence of said polyacrylic acids.
Abstract:
Use of copolymers containing sulfonic acid groups which comprise (a) 30 to 95 mol % of at least one monoethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, one monoethylenically unsaturated carboxylic ester or one water-soluble salt of a monoethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, (b) 3 to 35 mol % of at least one monomer containing sulfonic acid groups of the formula I in which the variables have the following meanings: R is hydrogen or methyl; X is a chemical bond or —COO—R1—; R1 is unbranched or branched C1-C4-alkylene; M is hydrogen, alkali metal or ammonium, and (c) 2 to 35 mol % of at least one nonionic monomer of the formula II in which the variables have the following meanings: R2 is hydrogen or methyl; R3 is a chemical bond or unbranched or branched C1-C6-alkylene; R4 are identical or different unbranched or branched C2-C4-alkylene radicals; R5 is unbranched or branched C1-C6-alkyl, C5-C8-cycloalkyl or aryl; n is 3 to 50, in random or block copolymerized form, as additive for detergents and cleaners.

Abstract:
The use of an addition polymer A composed in copolymerized form of 0.1% to 40% by weight of at least one C3 to C30 alkene, 40% to 99.9% by weight of at least one ethylenically unsaturated C3 to C6 monocarboxylic acid, 0% to 50% by weight of at least one ethylenically unsaturated C4 to C12 dicarboxylic acid and/or of the ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic monoalkyl esters or dicarboxylic anhydrides obtainable from said acid, and 0% to 30% by weight of at least one other ethylenically unsaturated compound which is copolymerizable with the aforementioned monomers, as a dispersing assistant in free-radically initiated aqueous emulsion or suspension polymerization.
