Embodiments of a dialog system that employs a corpus-based approach to generate responses based on a given number of semantic constraint-value pairs are described. The system makes full use of the data from the user input to produce dialog system responses in combination with a template generator. The system primarily utilizes constraint values in order to realize efficiencies based on the more frequent tasks performed in real dialog systems although rhetorical or discourse aspects of the dialog could also be included in a similar way, that is, labeling the data with such information and performing a training process. The benefits of this system include higher quality user-aligned responses, broader coverage, faster response time, and shorter development cycles.

The method includes these steps: a media conversion apparatus receives a media conversion service request from a media application terminal, where the media conversion service request carries a media content ID and playing capability information of the media application terminal; the media conversion apparatus sends a media content transmission request carrying the media content ID to the content source device; and the media conversion apparatus receives a media content identified by the media content ID from the content source device, converts the received media content according to the playing capability information of the media application terminal, and sends the converted media content to the media application terminal.

A technique for domain-based natural language dialogue includes a program that combines a broad-coverage parser with a general-purpose interpreter and a knowledge base to handle unrestricted sentences in a domain, such as the medical self-help domain. The broad-coverage parser may have more than 40,000 words in its dictionary. The general-purpose interpreter may use logical forms to represent the semantic meaning of a sentence. The knowledge base may include a domain of modest size, but the interpretive and inference techniques may be domain independent and scalable.

A communication device, system and method for managing the local network device remotely include: a local gateway acquires the topology structure and the configuration information of the local network device, and sends them to a remote management server; the remote management server generates configuration instruction to manage the local network device accordingly. The local gateway can manage the local network terminal uniformly, and it is unnecessary that all terminals of the local network support the remote network management protocol. Moreover, the remote management server can easily know the condition of the network organization of the whole local network and optimize the configuration based on the topology of the local network. The solution of the present invention can omit the related information redundancy of the gateway and terminal, reduce the cost of consistency management, and simplify the NAT traversal mechanism when the remote management server visits the private network terminal

An embodiment of the present invention provides a method for performing authentication on a subscriber terminal in a digital television (DTV) network which comprises at least one subscriber terminal and a head end for sending encrypted DTV program data to each subscriber terminal, the subscriber terminal comprising a set top box (STB) and a subscriber identification module for storing key information for decrypting the DTV program data, the method including: reading, by the STB, the life cycle of the key from the subscriber identification module when the STB starts up; initiating, by the STB, an authentication request to the head end when the life cycle expires; performing, by the head end, authentication after receiving the authentication request, and sending a response message to the STB; receiving, by the STB, the response message, and updating the key information when the response message is a response message which indicates successful authentication.
