摘要： An improved and more efficient means to route air and newly cut grass particles under and around circular lawn mower housings near the ends of the horizontal rotating blade permitting an improved flow of air and grass particles through the use of semicircular baffles concentric to the axis of the rotating blade and extending downward from the circular housing. Two short concentric semicircular baffles are used each of which having slanting portions extending outward and upward from the lowest edge of each baffle to the housing. This slanting portion, is a section of a cone and helps to avoid the accumulation of grass particles on the outer, upper edges of the housing. The result is the creation of a partial laminar flow near the inside surface of the housing and the distribution of the cut grass particles in a fan like pattern behind the lawn mower.

摘要： For picking up precut sod from the ground or other support surface, the lower one of a pair of cyclically driven carriers first nudges the transverse edge of the sod upwardly into engagement with a rearwardly moving reach of an upper cyclic carrier. The confronting reaches of the upper and lower carriers engage opposite surfaces of the slab of sod to feed the sod upwardly into the machine for handling.

摘要： Wide area mower which can be attached to and detached from a tractor in a relatively short time. In one disclosed embodiment, the mower has a main frame which is detachably connected to the rear mount of a tractor, swing frames pivotally connected to the main frame for movement into and out of engagement with the side mounts of the tractor, means detachably locking the swing frames in engagement with the side mounts, and mowing heads mounted on the frames to the sides and rear of the tractor. In another disclosed embodiment, the mower includes a frame adapted for connection to a towing vehicle, a pair of side decks positioned on opposite sides of the frame, a center deck positioned between the side decks, a pair of rear decks positioned to the rear of and between the side decks and the center deck. Ground engaging wheels at the front and rear of each deck support the decks, with the wheels at the rear of the side decks and the center deck being aligned with the wheels at the front of the rear decks, and means pivotally mounting the decks to the frame so that the decks can follow the contour of the ground.

摘要： A mobile grading machine and method with a scraper structure including a grading blade supported by caster wheels trailing therebehind. A trailing connection is disposed between the scraper structure and the caster wheels in fixed lateral relation relative to the ends of the blade. A fixed towing connection is carried at a leading portion of the scraper adapted to be coupled to a towing assembly of a tractor in a manner so as to support the grading structure for terrain following movement. A laser sensor or receiver is carried by the grading machine for raising and lowering the grading blade as the receiver falls and rises in traveling across a field. The grading blade and receiver are sufficiently closely spaced longitudinally so as to cause the receiver to detect a change in the surface of the terrain substantially coincident with the arrival of the blade at the detected change.

摘要： A turf grooming vehicle including a chassis and wheels supporting the chassis in terrain-following movement across a field includes a vacuum head assembly and a bin forming a receiver for loose turf material vacuumed from the surface of a field of turf. By jacking the receiver upwardly to pivot about an elevated axis of rotation the contents thereof can be discharged over the side of and into a vehicle disposed alongside the chassis. In addition, means forming a drive connection for operating both a fan for creating the suction as well as for operating hydraulic means for driving a rotatable grooming unit is coupled to a tractor or other pulling means so that the tractor and trailer can make extremely sharp turns. Further, the vacuum head assembly is arranged whereby it follows the surface of the ground independently of upward movements of the chassis (such as may be derived from the upward movements of the chassis wheels). Finally, means are arranged for evenly lifting and lowering opposite ends of the vacuum head assembly into and out of operative relation with the ground.

摘要： A sod handling apparatus for folding sod employs a first means for engaging and advancing a length of sod relative to the apparatus while a second means for further engaging and advancing the length of sod is selectively reversible. Means are provided for detecting an appropriate moment for reversing the feeding of the forward portion of the sod. At that time, the forward feeding means is reversed and raised to form a gap through which cyclically moving surfaces travel in a common direction so as to feed the folded edge of the sod through the gap and onto a conveyor forming a continuation of the original sod path. A cross conveyor is mounted to receive the rearwardly advancing folded sod whereby workmen standing in work stations of a trailing vehicle can remove the sod and place it on a pallet or other platform within the sod carrier vehicle following the sod folding apparatus. As the folded sod is placed upon the cross conveyor, a portion of the under surface of the folded sod is not permitted to contact the cross conveyor whereby the remaining portions engage the cross conveyor and serve to twist the orientation of the line of fold of the sod commodity with respect to the direction of movement of the cross conveyor. The machine pursues a method following the steps of continuously advancing a length of sod along a path, reversing the direction of movement of one of the portions of the sod relative to the movement of another portion of the same length of sod while conjointly therewith elevating the reversed portion with respect to the other portion so as to initiate folding one of the portions onto the other.
