    Abstract: A video decoder includes an entropy decoding device that includes a first processor that generates first entropy decoded (EDC) data from a first portion of an encoded video signal and further that generates second EDC data from a second portion of the encoded video signal. A general video decoding device includes a second processor that generates a first portion of a decoded video signal from the first EDC data and that further generates a second portion of the decoded video signal from the second EDC data. The entropy decoding device and the general video decoding device operate contemporaneously in a pipelined process where the general video decoding device generates the first portion of the decoded video signal during at least a portion of time that the entropy decoding device generates the second EDC data from the first portion of the encoded video signal.

    Abstract: An entropy coding module is provided for use in a video encoder that encodes a video input signal based on a plurality of macroblocks derived from the video input signal. The entropy coding module includes an entropy coder that generates entropy encoded data from discrete transformed coefficients for the plurality of macroblocks. A neighbor management module stores neighbor data for at least one macroblock of the plurality of macroblocks for retrieval by the entropy encoder, when operating on at least one neighboring macroblock of the plurality of macroblocks.

    Abstract: A lens for chromatic aberration compensation is provided. The lens includes a lens body and a plurality of color filter films. The lens body has a light incident plane, a light exit plane and an optical axis. The light incident plane and/or the light exit plane comprises a plurality of discrete area, wherein the area comprises, for example but not limited to, a plurality of annular areas, fan-shaped areas, or polygon areas. The color filter films are disposed over the areas of the lens body respectively, and comprise red color filter films, green color filter films or blue color filter films. Accordingly, the lens for chromatic aberration compensation of the invention can eliminate the aberration effectively.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus used in the context of a first and a second communications network, wherein the second communications network is overlaid upon the first communications network. The invention generates and utilizes a number of flags and indicators to determine which channel, from among a plurality of shared channels assignable to a first communications network (e.g., an AMPS network) and a second communications network (e.g., a CDPD network), will be used next for communicating information by the second network (e.g., a CDPD information). The invention provides a means for generating an ordered Idle.sub.-- Channel list. The Idle.sub.-- Channel list includes each assignable channel that is not currently used by the first or second communications network. In one embodiment of the present invention, the order of the channels in the Idle.sub.-- Channel list at any given time determines the order of the channels to be selected for transmission of a signal by the second communications network. In alternative embodiments of the present invention, the idle channels are ordered based upon the likelihood that they will be assigned for use by the first communications network when an additional channel is required by the first communications network.

    Abstract: A contoured pillow is provided which is designed to accommodate a person sleeping in the supine position or in a side position. The pillow includes a curved ridge along one edge of the pillow to support the neck. The ridge ends in an elliptical depression within the center of the pillow to support the back of a person's head. The elliptical depression allows a person's head a freedom of movement of 45.degree. from either side of its normal vertical position and allows bending of the neck to a certain degree. Along the sides of the depression the pillow is of a greater dimension to support the head when resting on the side of the head. The pillow further includes longitudinal grooves within the side regions of the pillow to prevent a person's ear from being overly compressed against the pillow when resting on one's side. The pillow is of a conventional size and shape and can be used with standard pillow cases, standard sized beds, etc.
