    摘要: A high-pressure fuel injection pump, including a sound-damping acoustic cover, is mounted on an engine and is part of a direct-inject fuel system for a vehicle. In an exemplary embodiment, the acoustic cover includes a top portion that fits over the fuel injection pump and a side portion that mechanically engages the fuel injection pump, and at least one of the top or side portions is formed from a sound-damping metal laminate material. Sound and/or vibrations that emanate from the fuel injection pump may be transferred to the acoustic cover and converted into thermal energy by the sound-damping metal laminate material.

    摘要: A metal framing member for use in a wide variety of applications including interior and exterior walls, structural insulated panels (SIPs), as well as floors, ceilings and roofs of residential and commercial buildings, to name but a few. The metal framing member generally includes first and second metal components, where each of the metal components is a separate piece and includes an elongated support with a series of fingers extending therefrom. The two metal components are attached together near tips of the fingers so that an alternating sequence of fingers and spaces is formed in an intermediate area between the two supports. This sequence can result in weight, material and cost savings, reduced thermal and acoustic conductivity across the metal framing member, and trade-ready holes for passing through items such as wires, pipes, etc.

    摘要: A method for manufacturing a metal frame, such as a tractor cab frame, that can reduce scrap material, simplify the manufacturing process, improve the structural integrity of the frame, and eliminate the use of overlapping joint areas. According to one embodiment, the manufacturing method includes the steps of: blanking a number of individual metal segments, joining the individual metal segments together to form a welded blank assembly, stamping the welded blank assembly to form a stamping assembly that includes the desired perimeter, and forming the stamping assembly by bending the stamping assembly into the final shape of the three-dimensional metal frame. The resultant metal frame preferably includes at least one metal segment that is shared between adjacent sides of the structure and is bent along its length to form a smooth transitioning corner lacking overlapping joint areas.

The glass run channel molding has, in cross-section, a first U-shaped channel for clamping retention on a pinchweld flange or the like and a second U-shaped channel to receive a guide a window pane. The structural core is a sheet having a band along one lateral edge and a plurality of laterally extending narrow strips with free ends, extending laterally therefrom. A surface of the band has surface exposed to view for decorative purposes. The structure of the core facilitates bending of the integral trim and glass run channel about the window frame.

    摘要: A magnetic window seal assembly for frameless and full flush window systems of automotive vehicles comprises a flexible sealing strip having a compressible body portion with a first magnetic element embedded therein mounted to the vehicle body. A complementary second magnetic element is provided on the lateral edge of the window being sealed. When in sealing engagement with the windowpane and the vehicle, the body portion of sealing strip is compressively tapered along its length, being more tapered or compressed at the roofline than at the beltline of the vehicle. The tapered configuration of the sealing strip and its compressibility at the beltline accommodates transverse or lateral inward movement of the beltline edge of the windowpane to allow the opening of the window by a camming mechanism without undue compressive resistance to such action.

    摘要: An apparatus, system and method for manufacturing metal parts, where input material is received from several material sources, multiple metal parts are produced at the same time, and the multiple metal parts may be provided to a downstream operation for subsequent processing. According to an exemplary embodiment, unwinding apparatuses unwind metal coils and provide three separate metal strips to coil-fed metal forming press. The coil-fed metal forming press then creates three separate blanks or metal parts at the same time. Next, a part transfer apparatus retrieves the three metal parts from an output side of coil-fed metal forming press, and presents them to part assembly apparatus, which may include a laser welder or other piece of equipment. Once the metal parts are properly positioned, part assembly apparatus can create a metal part assembly from the three individual blanks.

In an exemplary embodiment where the panel assembly is a vehicle part, the panel assembly includes a main panel, a primary adhesive layer, and a multi-layer patch that includes at least two individual patches and at least one auxiliary adhesive layer. The primary adhesive layer attaches the multi-layer patch to the main panel, and the auxiliary adhesive layer attaches the individual patches together. The size, shape, thickness and/or composition of the different layers of the multi-layer patch may be specifically chosen to exhibit certain sound and/or thermal damping properties.

According to an exemplary embodiment, the panel assembly includes a main panel made from a metal, one or more sound damping patches also made from a metal, and an adhesive layer that joins the patches to the main panel in a constrained layer construction. The sound damping patches may include one or more forming features, which are designed to improve the formability of the panel assembly without significantly impairing its sound damping characteristics. There are different types of forming features, including internal forming features (e.g., openings, holes, slits, slots, etc.) located within the interior of the patch and external forming features (e.g., projections, fingers, recesses, waveforms, etc.) located along the perimeter of the patch.
