Abstract:
Liquid filter arrangements are described and shown. The arrangements generally include a filter member comprising a shell enclosing a filter cartridge. Unique features for interface between the enclosed filter cartridge and the shell are provided. Also provided are unique features for interaction between the cartridge and a filter head, in use.
Abstract:
A liquid filter arrangement is provided, as well as methods of assembly and use. Advantageous features, relating to a preferred filter cartridge and a preferred slide arrangement, are provided.
Abstract:
A liquid filter cartridge is provided. Preferred seal arrangements are provided, to provide for preferred axial load conditions, with respect to one or more of the end caps of the cartridge. Some cartridge configurations provided include no core structure or outer liner structure therein, to support axial load. Assemblies using the cartridge, and methods of assembly and use, are provided. The liquid filter cartridge can be a serviceable cartridge, or it can be retained permanently in a housing.
Abstract:
A filter element includes filter media, first and second end caps, a latch arrangement projecting from the first end cap, a tubular neck extending from the first end cap and a valve head oriented within the first end cap aperture constructed and arranged to move between a position sealing the first end cap aperture and exposing the first end cap aperture. A filter assembly includes a filter element, as characterized herein, and including a filter base and a service cover. A method of servicing includes removing an old filter element, operably mounting a new filter element in a filter base including engaging a valve head against a spring member in the filter base, and operably mounting the service cover over the new filter element and filter base. A method of filtering includes directing liquid into a filter assembly, blocking a first end cap aperture by using a spring member in the filter base to urge the valve head against a rim of a tubular neck extending from the filter element, and directing liquid through the filter media to filter the liquid.
Abstract:
A filter cartridge includes a key ring with at least first and second protrusions to engage a lock-out assembly in a filter head, permitting the cartridge to connect to the filter head. A filter system includes a filter assembly, including a filter cartridge and a cartridge housing, connected to a filter head, in which the filter head includes an adapter assembly with a lock-out mechanism. The lock-out mechanism is unlocked by a key ring on the filter cartridge. A method of installing a filter assembly includes using protrusions on a key ring on a filter cartridge to unlock an adapter assembly in a filter head to allow for connection between the filter assembly and the filter head.
Abstract:
A filter cartridge that includes a housing having first and second housing members, a filter media pack positioned within the housing, and a housing connection defined between the first and second housing members. The first and second housing members each include a flange. The flanges engage each other at an engagement location. The engagement location extends around a circumference of the first housing member along an internal surface of thereof. A permanent housing connection is defined along the engagement location.
Abstract:
A filter cartridge 38 includes a first endcap 41 defining a first open aperture and having at least first and second protrusions extending from a wall along the aperture and into the first open aperture. The first protrusion is spaced from the second protrusion in both a vertical direction and a circumferential direction. The filter cartridge also includes filter media 44 and a second endcap 42. The filter cartridge is mountable in a filter bowl 36 having an inner liner assembly, and the bowl and the inner liner assembly is connectable to a filter head to form a filter system. The filter system can have any one or combination of the following features: a filter lock-out mechanism to ensure that the filter head and the filter bowl are not connectable unless there is a proper filter cartridge installed therein; an automatic drain mechanism to drain the filter bowl of liquid before the filter cartridge is removed from the bowl; and a cartridge retention mechanism, to ensure that the filter cartridge remains with the filter bowl after the filter bowl has been removed from the filter head. Adaptor rings can be utilized in order to test other types of filter elements in the system, when those other types of filter elements do not have the protrusion arrangement. Assemblies, methods of servicing, methods of installing, methods of use, and methods of retaining can be practiced.

Abstract:
A fluid filter arrangement has a housing, a filter cartridge oriented within the housing, and a projection arrangement. The projection arrangement is oriented to space the filter cartridge from a wall of the housing in order to provide a fluid flow path between the filter cartridge and the housing wall. In some arrangements, the projection arrangement is part of an end cap. Embodiments of the projections include axial extensions, radial extensions, and angled extensions including both radial and axial components. Systems of use, methods of filtering, methods of making, and methods of servicing include arrangements of these types.
Abstract:
An endcap including a first plate member including a radial inner portion, a radial outer portion, and defining a longitudinal axis. The endcap also includes a flange disposed between the radial inner and outer portions of the first plate member and projecting axially along the longitudinal axis in a first direction. The endcap also includes a first seal member disposed adjacent the flange. The first seal includes a first portion thereof engaged with an axial facing surface of the first plate member and a second portion thereof engaged with a radially facing surface of the flange. The endcap further includes a second plate member disposed radially outward of the radial outer portion and a second seal member disposed adjacent the second plate member including at least a portion thereof axially spaced from the axially facing surface of the first plate member in a second direction along the longitudinal axis opposite the first direction.
