    摘要： An adjustable boring bar characterized in that the bar has a transverse rectangular slot diametrically therethrough in which the overlapped rectangular shank portions of a pair of cutter elements are slidable for simultaneous radial outward or inward movement with respect to the longitudinal axis of the bar by a screw actuated cam means which engages the respective shank portions. The screw actuated cam means comprises a nut movable in a transverse bore in the bar by rotation of a dial screw, said nut having an inclined cam face which engages the tapered rear end of a cam plunger to move it longitudinally in a central bore in the bar, said plunger having a V-shaped front end engaged with offset V-shaped notches in the respective shank portions of the cutter elements. The adjustable boring bar herein is further characterized in that the cutter elements are locked in adjusted position by screw means in the bar extending transversely through openings in the overlapped shank portions of the cutter elements and being operative to constrict the transverse slot to firmly clamp the overlapped shank portions together.

    摘要： A collet chuck of the type wherein a nosepiece having screwthreaded engagement with the chuck body forces a contractible collet axially inwardly of the body to effect contraction of the collet through a nose ring interposed between the axially outer end of the collet and an inturned shoulder on the nosepiece, the collet chuck herein being characterized in that the nose ring has a close axially telescoping fit with the axially outer end portion of the collet and a radial clearance fit within the nosepiece so that the nose ring and collet remain coaxial during operation of the chuck so as to accurately grip a tool or the like with its axis substantially coinciding with the axis of the chuck body.

    摘要： Anti-chatter guides for a spade drill which are perpendicular to the side faces of the spade blade and which have an end to end dimension (diameter) wholly forwardly of the rear portion of the blade corresponding to the width of the blade so as to engage the wall of the hole drilled by the blade thus to prevent chatter of the spade drill during drilling and after the cutting edges break through the workpiece. In one form of the invention, the guides constitute a portion of the clamping means by which the spade blade is mounted in the slotted end of a holder, and in another form of the invention, the guides are on the blade itself forwardly of the holder.
