Abstract:
An Internet Protocol (IP) multimedia subsystem for use in a telecommunication network. The IP multimedia subsystem comprises: 1) an IP switch for receiving Common Open Policy Service (COPS) protocol messages from an external IP network; and 2) a plurality of call application nodes capable of executing a plurality of Policy Decision Function (PDF) application groups. The IP switch distributes the COPS messages to the plurality of call application nodes according to a load-sharing algorithm.
Abstract:
A method of making a composite roofing material and the resulting material by depositing nail tabs made of a thermoplastic, thermosetting, adhesive or elastomer material, in a liquid state, onto the base substrate of the composite roofing material or onto the saturated or coated roofing material, or onto a transfer surface to be pressed or laminated onto the roofing material. A preferred embodiment transfers the nail tabs onto an engraved transfer impression roll and uses a pressurized applicator to inject the viscous tab material into engraved patterns depressed in raised areas of the impression roll., then deposits the material onto the roofing material. A preferred embodiment also includes the thermoplastic or thermosetting material in a liquid or viscous state hardened or cured by either its exposure to the air or by the use of ultra-violet or visible light.
Abstract:
A switch for handling call connections between calling devices and called devices. The switch comprises: 1) at least one system management node associated with a configuration management controller, the configuration management controller for performing an online upgrade of software in the switch by loading upgraded software in a new partition while original software is executed in a reference partition; and 2) a plurality of computing nodes for executing primary-backup resource server applications. Each of the primary-backup resource server applications comprises a primary resource server application and a secondary resource server application residing on a different node than the primary resource server application. A plurality of the primary-backup resource server applications form a resource group and an address of the resource group is known in the reference partition and in the new partition.
Abstract:
A system and method is disclosed for providing an online software upgrade in a switch in a telecommunications system. The switch comprises: 1) a main processing unit for executing call process client applications associated with call connections; and 2) call application nodes for executing call process server applications; and 3) system management nodes. A configuration management controller associated with a system management node executes an online software upgrade for the software in the switch while the switch is executing the software that is being upgraded. Each new software upgrade is tested before the software upgrades are made operational in the switch.
Abstract:
A controller for allocating call identity values to call connections associated with a switch, wherein the switch handles call connections between calling devices and called devices on trunk lines associated with the switch. The controller comprises N call application nodes for executing identity server applications that allocate call identity values to the call connections, wherein a first identity server application is executed on a first call application node and is associated with a second identity server applications executed on a second call application node separate from the first call application node. The first and second identity server applications form a load sharing group server application, wherein the load sharing group server application receives a call identity request from a new call process being executed in the switch and selects one of the first and second identity server applications to allocate a call identity value to a new call connection associated with the call identity request according to a load distribution algorithm.
Abstract:
A switch for handling call connections between calling devices and called devices on trunk lines of the switch. The switch comprises a main processing unit for executing call process client applications. Each call process client applications is associated with a call connections. The switch also comprises N call application nodes for executing call process server applications. A first call process server application executed on a first call application node is associated with a similar second call process server application executed on a separate second call application node. The first and second call process server applications form a first load sharing group server application. Each call process client application sends a call process service request to the first load sharing group server application, which selects one of the first and second call process server applications to perform the requested call process service according to a load distribution algorithm.
Abstract:
A system for providing a subscriber database using group services in a telecommunication system. The system comprises a switch for executing call processing applications and N call application nodes for executing subscriber database server applications. A first subscriber database server application is executed on a first call application node and a second subscriber database server application is executed on a second call application node. The first and second subscriber database server applications form a subscriber database load sharing group server application. When a subscriber database service request is received, the subscriber database load sharing group server application selects one of the first and second subscriber database server applications to perform the subscriber database service request according to a load distribution algorithm.
Abstract:
Methods of operating an SIP load balancer, one or more SIP server nodes and/or one or more SIP server instances are provided that efficiently manage a processing load. Configurations for an SIP load balancer, one or more SIP server nodes and/or one or more SIP server instances to enable efficient management of a processing load are also described. In certain ones of these, state data for a set of SIP processes may be sent from a SIP server instance and used by a SIP load balancer to remove inactive SIP processes from a data structure. The management of a processing load comprising a number of SIP processes following the failure of a SIP server node and/or a SIP server instance is also provided.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for applying nail tabs to roofing and building cover materials involving the steps of depositing tab material onto the surface of the roofing or building cover material, during or after its manufacture, resulting in a plurality of nail tabs from a lamination roll, and bonding the tabs to the surface of the material by pressure between the lamination roll and said surface. The method also encompasses depositing the tab material or pre-formed tabs by a pressure roll in contact with said surface. The tabs preferably are made substantially of a polymer material and may be hardened or cured by ultra-violet or visible light. The tabs may also be pre-formed and have adhesive backing.
