摘要: A communication device performs a method for detecting presence of a jamming signal. The method includes retrieving a scan list comprising multiple radio channels within a first frequency range of operation of the communication device. The method further includes scanning at least a subset of the channels on the scan list to determine, for each scanned channel, whether energy that exceeds an energy threshold is detected on the scanned channel. Moreover, the method includes determining a first quantitative measure based on a first plurality scanned channels having energy that exceeds the energy threshold, and comparing the first quantitative measure to at least a first jamming signal detection threshold. Additionally, the method includes indicating, on the communication device, presence of a jamming signal when the first quantitative measure satisfies the at least a first jamming signal detection threshold.

摘要: A method and apparatus for choosing members of a local-area network and choosing a network coordinator among the members is provided herein. During operation a mobile node will determine presence information for nodes within its local area. These nodes will be solicited by the node to be part of a local-area network. Of all nodes that accept the request to form a local area network, a network coordinator for the local-area network will be chosen by determining which node's data budget allows for the cheapest transfer of data. The node with the best data budget is then chosen to be a network coordinator.

摘要: A method and apparatus for performing the method are provided. The method includes operating a mobile device in a first network while a timer of the mobile device is running to prevent the mobile device from scanning for a second network. The method also includes determining a distance that the mobile device is from a reference location, where the reference location is associated with where the mobile device is prevented from scanning for the second network. The method further includes adjusting the timer when the determined distance from the reference signal exceeds a threshold. When the determined distance exceeds the determined distance, the mobile device can scan for the second network.

摘要: A method and system for retry of a packet data call. The method can include the steps of attempting (210) an IP registration with a mobile unit (110) to make a packet data call using a first protocol on a network (120) that employs both the first protocol and a second protocol for packet data calls and detecting (212) a failure in the IP registration using the first protocol due to a failure in a data link layer of the first protocol. A physical layer of the first protocol is unaffected by the failure in the data link layer of the first protocol such that communications may still be performed over the physical layer. The method can also include the steps of—at the mobile unit—ceasing (214) the attempted IP registration using the first protocol on the network and attempting (216) an IP registration with the mobile unit using the second protocol of the network. As an example, the first protocol can be EVDO, and the second protocol can be 1X.

摘要: Disclosed is a display system and a method of a display system including a display device configured to provide visual output in a direction, and a camera associated with the display, the camera image collector being pointed in the direction of the visual output, the camera configured to collect facial data. A processor is provided to correlate facial data with content data so that the display will display specific content while the camera collects the facial data. A user's mobile communication device can detect the display system and transmit facial data to the display system. When a user is positioned so that the camera of the system can collect facial data of the user's face, the system can push specific content based upon facial recognition of the user correlated with the user's preferences or other criteria. A determination as to content to display is based upon facial recognition.

摘要: A method and system that mitigates data session degradation over a radio link connection with an end server by allocating resources at a wireless communication device based on real-time radio frequency (RF) channel conditions. A performance tracking and resource allocation (PTRA) logic monitors radio access bearer (RAB) configuration and radio link quality for communication links between the WCD and the end server. The PTRA logic sets a maximum transmission unit (MTU) size parameter to a pre-established size associated with the measured radio link quality. In response to detecting a change in the RAB configuration, the PTRA logic performs a real-time round trip time (RTT) measurement utilizing individual RTTs associated with packet segments transmitted at a lower protocol layer. In addition, the PTRA logic modifies at least one of a transmission control protocol (TCP) receive window (RWIN) and a TCP transmit window (TWIN) using the real-time RTT measurements and RAB configuration.

摘要: A method (300) and mobile device (120) for reduced scanning within a uniform period in an out-of-service condition is described herein. In one arrangement, the method can include the steps of detecting (310) the out-of-service condition, during a wake-up interval (410), waking (314) up to scan one or more channels (510, 520, 530, 540) for service and maintaining a constant wake-up time for subsequent wake-up intervals. The method can also include the step of varying (320) the amount of time spent scanning the channels during the subsequent wake-up intervals. As an example, varying the amount of time spent scanning channels can be done by decreasing (322) the amount of time spent scanning for each successive, subsequent wake-up interval.
