摘要: A valve assembly is provided and includes a poppet disposed to regulate a pressure of a fluid flowing through a pathway defined between the poppet and a valve body, a drive element configured to modulate a pressure of a servo fluid to thereby control a position of the poppet relative to the valve body and an actuator body coupled to the poppet and configured to deliver a supply fluid to the drive element from a first cavity defined between the poppet and the actuator body and to deliver the servo fluid from the drive element to a second cavity defined between the actuator body and the poppet. The poppet defines a filter through which fluid flows from the pathway into the first cavity as the supply fluid.

An inlet tube extends from an inlet and defines an inlet passage into a filter housing. Openings within the inlet tube open into an interior space of a filter housing. An outer housing defines a cavity within which the filter housing is secured. The filter housing includes an open top portion that engages a cap that covers and seals the outer housing. The cap holds the filter housing to prevent movement of the filter housing.

摘要: A compressed air unit is provided having a motor housing with a main motor housing having a cavity. A motor is arranged within the cavity and a compressor rotor is connected to the motor. A cooling duct is integral with and extends from the main housing body. The cooling duct is in fluid communication with the cavity. An inner housing includes a main inlet housing body providing a compressor inlet for providing fluid to the compressor rotor. An inlet duct is integral with and extends from the main inlet housing body and in fluid communication with the compressor inlet. A transfer tube is interconnected between the cooling and inlet ducts. A source of clean cooling air is provided by providing a reverse flow pickup from the inlet flow boundary layer at the compressor inlet.

The journal sleeve defines an inner diameter surface, an outer diameter surface, a wall thickness between the inner and outer diameter surfaces, and opposite first and second ends. The wall thickness of the journal sleeve is reduced at a first region located between the first and second ends, and a chamfered region is formed on the outer diameter surface of the journal sleeve between the first o-ring land and the first end of the journal sleeve.

摘要: A diffuser includes multiple vanes rotatable about pivot pins between multiple positions. A mounting plate supports a backing plate. The vanes are arranged between the backing plate and the shroud. The pivot pins are in a slip fit relationship with the backing plate, vanes and shroud and are threadingly received by bosses in the mounting plate. The mounting plate and pivot pin arrangement better enables the backing plate and shroud to remain parallel with one another during deflection of the backing plate and/or shroud. Structure, such as integral protrusions and/or bolts, extend from between the backing plate and shroud through apertures in the vanes to better contain the vanes in the event of a catastrophic failure.

摘要: A motor is provided including a housing having single and integral motor and bearing cooling inlets. The motor is arranged within the housing and includes a stator and a rotor assembly supported on air bearings. The cooling inlet is in fluid communication with the motor stator and with the air bearings. The motor cooling inlet provides and the bearing cooling inlet provides a uniform pressure on the rotor assembly. The uniform pressures exerted on the rotor assembly produce bearing loads that generally cancel one another. The source of the cooling flow is uncompressed air at low pressure. This may be achieved by providing a vent in the housing that is common to both the motor cooling inlet and the bearing cooling inlet. As a result, journal bearings and seals of substantially the same size may be used.

摘要: A compressed air system includes a compressor having an inlet and an outlet. A duct fluidly connects the outlet to the inlet and has a valve arranged in the duct. A controller communicates with the valve and commands the valve to move between first and second positions in response to a surge condition and/or an add-heat condition to regulate an amount of fluid flowing through the duct. The valve opens to provide hot air from the compressor outlet to deice the inlet or to provide the higher pressure compressor outlet air to the lower pressure compressor inlet air to obtain a pressure ratio in a desired range. The inventive compressed air unit is designed to provide a compact arrangement so that the valve providing the heated, pressurized air to the inlet is located in close proximity to the inlet for a rapid response time. The duct comprises a relatively short length of tubing interconnecting an add-heat supply outlet and an add-heat plenum inlet, which are provided by a housing of the compressor. The housing also includes an add-heat plenum having an annular wall arranged at the inlet to provide an annular cavity. Hot air from the compressor outlet is provided to the plenum to heat the annular wall quickly at the inlet to prevent deicing.

摘要: An ECS system includes a RAM air fan (RAF) system downstream of a respective heat exchanger in the relatively high temperature RAM exhaust. The RAF includes a RAF electric motor such that the RAF is driven at a speed independent of an ACM which reduces generated noise and increases overall operating efficiency. A fan rotor is completely supported by hydrodynamic foil journal and thrust bearings which permits effective operation of the RAF downstream of the respective heat exchangers in the relatively high temperature RAM exhaust. As the RAF is driven by the RAF electric motor the RAF is installed in the ECS system as a self-contained system such as Line Replaceable Units (LRUs).

摘要: A fan inlet and diffuser apparatus (30) is provided with a lobed mixer (60) for intermixing fan bypass air (25) with a flow of fan discharge air (27). The fan inlet and diffuser apparatus (30) is particularly adapted for use in a inducing a flow of cooling air (21) through an upstream heat exchanger (20) and thence directing a portion (23) of the cooling air passing from the heat exchanger to the inlet side of the fan (14) of an air cycle machine (10), while directing the remaining portion (25) to bypass the fan (14) and pass into the central outlet flow passage (52) flowing over the mixing ejector (60) which imparts a directional swirl to the bypass flow (25) and a counter swirl to the fan discharge flow (27) passing from the fan outlet through the interior of the mixer (60), thereby enhancing the mixing of these two flows within the passage (52).
