    摘要: A transflective display panel and a display apparatus using the same are provided. The display panel includes a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix. Each of the pixels includes a plurality of subpixels, and each subpixel within a pixel outputs a different color of light. In addition, each of the subpixels includes a transflective mode region which has a reflection mode region with a diffraction grating and a transmission mode region; a liquid crystal layer which adjusts a transmittance of incident light through electric control; and a sub color filter which transmits light within a wavelength band of the incident light. Because the display panel includes the reflection mode region where the diffraction grating is formed, it can display a high-quality image with good white balance, even while outdoors or under bright illumination.

    摘要: A surface emitting device using a photonic crystal includes a two-dimensional slab type photonic crystal structure including a first dielectric layer and a second dielectric layer formed on top of the first dielectric layer wherein a plurality of air holes in a two-dimensional lattice pattern are formed on the surface of the second dielectric layer; a light-emitting material layer formed on the inner wall of the air holes; and optical pumping means for irradiating the lateral surface of the photonic crystal structure with light. The surface emitting device shows improved surface emission efficiency and can advantageously emit light close to monochromatic light. Therefore, the surface emitting device can be used to manufacture a surface emitting laser. A method for fabricating the surface emitting device is also disclosed.

The reflective unit includes: an electroactive polymer layer which becomes strained when a voltage is applied thereto by an electrode; a light reflecting unit reflecting external light and having reflecting cells arranged on the electroactive polymer layer to be spaced apart from one another wherein a distance between the reflecting cells is changed according to the strain of the electroactive polymer layer; and a light blocking layer preventing external light from being reflected by the light reflecting unit and having blocking cells arranged over the light reflecting unit to be spaced apart from one another.

    摘要: A backlight assembly includes a plurality of light sources generating light, a light guide plate and a prism sheet. The light sources include first light sources and second light sources having a different emitting angle from the first light sources. The light guide plate includes an incident surface to which the light is incident, an exiting surface extended from the incident surface, opposing to the incident surface and emitting the incident light and an opposing surface extended from the exiting surface. The opposing surface meets the exiting surface at a substantially straight line. The prism sheet converts the emitted light from the light guide plate.
