Abstract:
A bioprocess comprises regulating pH of trade effluent wastewater, adding and mixing a first bio-additive, adding and mixing a flocculant/coagulant, filtering through a filter device, adding, mixing of a second bio-additive with aeration, and adding and mixing of a third bio-additive with aeration. Treatment can be discontinued or continued by adding and mixing of hydrogen peroxide with aeration, and optionally exposing treated effluent to UV disinfectant. The treated effluent can be recycled or disposed. Compositions of bio-additives 1, 2 and 3 comprise a group of highly selective and effective microorganisms and enzymes that are immobilized on carrier support matrices from a group of alginate, chitosan, polyacrylamides, k-carrageenan and agarose.
Abstract:
A system for managing data packets has multiple cores, a data buffer, a hardware accelerator, and an interrupt controller. The interrupt controller transmits a first interrupt signal to a first one of the cores based on a first hardware signal received from the hardware accelerator. The first core creates a copy of buffer descriptors (BD) of a buffer descriptor ring that correspond to the data packets in the data buffer in a first virtual queue and indicates to the hardware accelerator that the data packets are processed. If there are additional data packets, the interrupt controller transmits a second interrupt signal to a second core, which performs the same steps as performed by the first core. The first and the second cores simultaneously process the data packets associated with the BDs in the first and second virtual queues, respectively.
Abstract:
Natural rubber blends, methods for making the same, and articles made therefrom are provided. The natural rubber blend includes at least one propylene copolymer containing ethylene derived units. The natural rubber blend can further include one or more reinforcing fillers, such as carbon black. The presence of the propylene copolymer significantly improves the ozone resistance and ageing properties of the natural rubber gum stock.
Abstract:
Embodiments of methods of making superhydrophobic structures comprise depositing a polymer mold onto a silicon surface comprising a plurality of microasperities, removing the polymer mold after the polymer mold has hardened, depositing a liquid epoxy resin into the polymer mold, forming a microstructure with a plurality of microasperities by separating the epoxy resin from the mold after the epoxy resin has solidified, and forming a superhydrophobic structure by depositing a plurality of alkane nanoasperities on the microstructure in the presence of solvent vapor.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a compositions and methods for the treatment of cancer, including pancreatic cancer, breast cancer and melanoma, in a human patient. The methods and compositions of the present invention employ curcumin or a curcumin analogue encapsulated in a colloidal drug delivery system, preferably a liposomal drug delivery system. Suitable colloidal drug delivery systems also include nanoparticles, nanocapsules, microparticles or block copolymer micelles. The colloidal drug delivery system encapsulating curcumin or a curcumin analogue is administered parenterally in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
Abstract:
A method for measuring nm-scale tip-sample capacitance comprising: (a) measuring a cantilever deflection and a change in probe-sample capacitance relative to a reference level as a function of a probe assembly height; (b) fitting out-of-contact data to a function; (c) subtracting the function from capacitance data to get a residual capacitance as a function of the probe assembly height; and (d) determining the residual capacitance at a z-position where the cantilever deflection is zero.
Abstract:
A system and method for measuring capacitance between a probe and a semiconductor sample, which may be useful in the field of scanning capacitance microscopy (SCM). The present invention also includes a method for analyzing measured capacitance data by subtracting any changes in capacitance that are due to changes in long-range stray capacitance that occur when the probe assembly is scanned.
Abstract:
A cache memory organized into banks of subarrays includes repeaters for connecting to the data provided by the subarrays to a global data bus. The repeaters comprise a logic gate providing either a NAND or NOR function coupled in series with an inverter. The logic gate has a first input connected to receive a first logic value of a bus line, and a second input coupled to receive data output from a subarray. The inverter drives the first logic value onto the bus line when the cache bank subarray is inactive, and drives the data value from the subarray onto the bus line when the cache bank subarray is activate.
Abstract:
Architecture for a cache fabricated on a die with a processor including a plurality of cache banks, each containing a plurality of storage cell subarrays, the cache banks being arranged in physical relationship to a central location on the die that provides a point for information transfer between the processor and the cache. A data path provides synchronous transmission of data to/from the cache banks such that data requested by the processor in a given clock cycle is received at the central location a predetermined number of clock cycles later regardless of which cache bank in the cache the data is stored.
Abstract:
The present invention includes capacitive film thickness measurement devices and measurement systems. The invention also includes machines or instruments using those aspects of the invention. The present invention additionally includes methods and procedures using those devices of the present invention. The present invention discloses a capacitance measurement device and technique useful in determining lubricant film thickness on substrates such as magnetic thin-film rigid disks. Using the present invention, variations in lubricant thickness on the Angstrom scale or less may be measured quickly and nondestructively.
