Abstract: Techniques are described for determining connectivity to a network device to optimize performance for controlling operation of one or more network devices. A computing device may determine connectivity to a network device to send a request for information to the network device. The computing device can determine whether it has access to a network (e.g., a wireless network), which includes the network device. The computing device may determine whether it has authorization to communicate with the network device on the network. Authorization may be based on the registration of the network device to communicate with the computing device. When the computing device can access the network and when the computing is authorized to communicate with the network device, communication (e.g., a request) may occur using the network or by direct transmission to the network device. Otherwise, the computing device may communicate with the network device using a remote network.

Abstract: Multipurpose systems can include networked devices configured to include microphones, motion sensors, video cameras, touchscreens, optical sensors, speakers, or other suitable devices. The networked devices can include networking capabilities that enable the networked device to communicate with target devices and other networked devices. A system of networked devices can identify a target location or a target device by analyzing audio signals received at microphones of the networked devices. For example, a plurality of networked devices can identify a particular networked device that is in closest proximity to a user by analyzing an audio intensity of an audio signal received at the plurality of networked devices. The identified networked device can serve as a master device that can control a state of target devices.

Abstract: An apparatus including an overlay with a top side and a bottom side. The apparatus also can include an adhesive component with a top side and a bottom side. The top side of the adhesive component can be adhered to the bottom side of the overlay. The adhesive component can be configured to adhere the bottom side of the overlay to a screen of an electronic device in a single-use application of the overlay by adhering the bottom side of the adhesive component to the screen of the electronic device. The apparatus can be configured such that, when the overlay is removed from being adhered to the screen of the electronic device after the single-use application of the overlay, at least a portion of the adhesive component is detached from at least a portion of the overlay. Other embodiments are provided.

Abstract: An overlay applicator tray can include a cradle including a device slot. The device slot can be configured to securely hold an electronic device in the cradle. The overlay applicator tray also can include an overlay applicator. The overlay applicator can include an overlay layer and an adhesive release liner. The overlay layer can include a top side and a bottom side. The bottom side can be configured to be adhered to a screen of the electronic device. The adhesive release liner can be removably attached to the bottom side of the overlay layer. The overlay applicator tray additionally can include an alignment piece coupling the cradle to the overlay applicator. The alignment piece can align the overlay layer of the overlay applicator with the screen as the overlay layer is applied to the screen when the electronic device is securely held in the device slot. Other embodiments are provided.

The network video capture device comprises a lens connected to a housing; a blocking mechanism, wherein the a blocking mechanism is configured to selectively block the lens from capturing video images, and wherein the blocking mechanism includes a physical body; an indication device, wherein the indication device is configured to provide visible feedback that the lens is blocked; and a circuit board having a data processor, a wireless transceiver, and a memory configured to store a customizable setting associated with the blocking mechanism.
