摘要: Kinetic wind energy is converted to potential energy for use in a multi-story building by employing the wind energy to rotate wind wheel assemblies mounted on the building. The wheel assemblies are in turn employed to compress air which is stored in a chamber contained within the associated building. The compressed air is employed to drive an electric generator which provides supplemental electricity for the building. A solar energy conversion system is included with the building whereby radiant solar energy is employed to heat air in vertical columns contained between spaced walls of glass which form the sides of the building. The rising air is employed to rotate a squirrel cage type assembly on the building roof which in turn is employed to power an air compressor for supplying pressurized air to the compression chamber. When storage is not required, the kinetic energy acting on the system may also be converted to mechanical energy which is employed to directly power electrical generators and/or air conditioning compressors.

摘要: The disclosure is of horizontally disposed in tandem, single Wankel diesel engine-compressor arrangements, with compressor determining height and width dimensions, and whereby the compressed air from moving compression space in engine driven compressor passes through substantially horizontally or laterally disposed transfer port means into oppositely moving engine compression space for fuel injection and ignition to occur therein, whereby products of combusion pass back into compressor, through substantially horizontally or laterally disposed transfer port means, substantially vertically spaced from said first transfer port means, into compressor expansion space to abet compressor rotation into communication with exhaust discharge; the engine drive shaft being exteriorally adapted to drive the compressor shaft in opposite clock direction, as aforesaid. The arrangement of engine and compressor in horizontal tandem relationship, with air inlet into compressor, followed by ported intercommunication into, and back from engine, and finally by discharge from compressor, providing combinations adapted for substitution into conventional vehicle power plants, thus requiring less headroom than required by conventional Wankel diesel engine-compressor combinations.

摘要: Mounted adjacent the closed top of a cupola stack is a hopper which rains a torrent of discrete heat-exchange particles such as sand downwardly through the upward flowing hot gases in the stack. Deflectors within the stack deflect the torrent toward a discharge opening in the side of the stack above the melt zone. Accumulated particles adjacent the discharge opening seal the gases against escape therethrough. An outlet from an expansion chamber adjacent the top of the stack passes the cooled gases to a conventional filter which removes the smoke burden from the gases.

摘要: The invention involves a cooling tower with tower column having a hollow, rotatably mounted turret thereon, from the substantial periphery of which a plurality of equally, angularly spaced apart hollow vanes are suspended. Exhaust steam entered into the column passes upwardly and outwardly in the turret to pass downwardly through the vanes into an annular, rotatably mounted receiver. The receiver discharges the cooled fluid into a fixed reservoir, preferably an annular tank. Air around the column rises and passes outwardly through the vanes in heat exchange relationship therewith. The vanes, at least in their upper portions, are so constructed and directed, that the passage of air therethrough tends to impart rotation to the assembly of turret, vanes, and receiver.
