    摘要： A subscriber-line interface circuit (SLIC) has tip and ring amplifiers connected to the tip and ring lines, respectively, of customer premises equipment (CPE). The SLIC returns the ringing signal (provided to the CPE from a power supply connected to the CPE's ring line), to ground or to battery, through the SLIC's tip amplifier. In one embodiment, the SLIC has three switches: S1 connecting the power supply to the ring line, S2 connecting the ring amp to the ring line, and S3 connecting the tip amp to the tip line. During ringing, S1 and S3 are closed to return the ringing signal to ground through the tip amp, which is preferably driven to saturation during ringing to reduce power consumption. By eliminating the fourth switch that appears in prior-art SLICs (e.g., connecting the tip line to ground), SLICs of the present invention can be smaller and therefore less expensive to implement.

    摘要： A power management circuit for a remote access platform extracts power from a wireline for powering a ring generator that generates a ringing voltage signal that is distributed to a plurality of subscriber circuits. A power-limited voltage converter steps up the wireline voltage to a higher ‘isolating’ voltage, charging a capacitor coupled to the ring generator. A monitor circuit reduces the power that the power-limited voltage converter can draw, if the wireline voltage drops too low. This prevents the wireline voltage from collapsing should the remote terminal be deployed at a distance from wireline voltage source (the central office) greater than its specified capability.

    摘要： A client-server telephone call router system as part of a customer premises system has a client-server router adapted to execute on a telephony switch, such as a public branch exchange (PBX) or other telephony switch, or on a processor connected by CTI link to a telephony switch. The telephony switch or processor executing the router is connected to a local area network (LAN) that also interconnects computer workstations proximate to telephones connected to the telephony switch. Client user interface applications run on the computer workstations, allowing clients to edit routing rules for the router, which has a list of routing rules keyed to users and workstations of the customer premises system. The editing rules are kept by the router in portions dedicated to individual users. With this system a user can edit at a workstation on the LAN his/her own routing rules, and transmit the edits to the client-server router where the rules will be followed to route calls for that user and protocol.

    摘要： An automated telephone line test system that is well suited for determining the location of faults within a telephone network. The telephone line test system uses time domain reflectometry to aid in locating the faults. The time domain reflectometry unit is connected through a switch in the network so that the time domain reflectometry unit can be connected to multiple lines without human intervention. Parameters of the time domain reflectometry signals are controlled so that reflections from the switch do not interfere with measurement of parameters on the faulty line.

    摘要： A circuit and method for sensing in current mode when a telephone has been answered in a telephone system in which an answer is indicated when a dc component of a signal across a resistor exceeds a predetermined reference current. Currents sensed at the terminals of the resistor are combined to provide a third current that includes the dc component, without attenuation of the dc component. A filter separates the dc component from the third current so that the dc component can be compared to the reference current.

    摘要： An automatic incoming telephone call identification and disposition system embodied in a telephone receiver console which includes a database directory of telephone numbers and disposition calendars which contain activity information relating to one of several caller response options for each incoming telephone caller depending on the time and date that the call is received. Call dispositions of the system include: telephone ring; ring suppress; and connection to an answering machine or fax. The system also includes circuitry for monitoring incoming calls, circuitry for automatic number identification detection of an incoming call, circuitry for after answer code detection, and user programmable system control means and software for coordinating the operation of the system components. The system is also provided with an LCD display for user viewing of an identified caller's number prior to picking up the telephone receiver and an audible recipient alert function capability for signalling a desired incoming caller in one of a variety of audible announcements at either a local or remote site(s).
