The methods disclosed provide at least the ability to swell oilseeds and disrupt the cell walls (hulls) without changing the functionality and quality of oil; the process integration of removing the impurities from oilseeds, oil extraction, protein hydrolysis, and green coal production to maximize the energy recovery in the form of crude oil, polypeptides, oligopeptides, amino acids, and/or green coal from oilseeds; and heat integration during processing stages including subcritical water pretreatment, oil extraction, subcritical water post-treatment, and subcritical water carbonization to minimize the process heat requirement.

Provided herein are microalgae of a Thraustochytrid and a method for preparing bio-oil using the same, and more particularly, Aurantiochytrium sp. LA3 (KCTC12685BP) having bio-oil producibility, and a method of preparing bio-oil, particularly bio-oil having a content of omega-3 unsaturated fatty acids of 30% by weight or more based on total fatty acids, characterized by culturing the microalgae. The microalgae Aurantiochytrium sp. LA3 (KCTC12685BP) described herein has a rapid sugar consumption rate when being cultured using glucose as a carbon source, has a high oil content, allows cells to be cultured at a high concentration, and allows oil to be obtained in high productivity and a high yield, and thus, may produce bio-oil more economically and environmentally friendly.

A method for improving crude palm oil yields or separating the crude palm oil from the sludge or a combination thereof in palm fruit processing comprising: admixing a palm fruit or a portion thereof or a palm fruit extract and an enzyme, which enzyme degrades a phospholipid present in said palm fruit or portion thereof or palm fruit extract; and incubating the admixture at about 45° C. to about 95° C. for about 15 minutes to about 6 hours. Also included are uses of an enzyme which degrades a phospholipid.

A method of extracting CBD, THC, desirable oils, and other compounds from the cannabis plant includes drying the plant, grinding or chopping the plant, mixing the resulting pieces of the plant with a fluid to form a mixture, circulating the mixture through a controlled cavitation reactor to liberate CBD, THC, desirable oils, and other compounds from the pieces, and separating the liberated CBD, THC, desirable oils, and other compounds from the fluid. The method may be used as an adjunct to or in combination with traditional extraction techniques such as leaching to increase yields.

The present invention relates to methods for producing water soluble oil palm leaf powder and concentrate. The most preferred method includes the steps of (a) cleaning the leaves with water or an acid with pH lower than 5.5 and salts to produce an extract, (b) extracting the oil palm leaves with a solvent which has polarity index above 2.5 such as methanol, ethanol or ethyl acetate or any combination thereof, especially catechins or ethanol and water which are generally recognized as safe (GRAS) for food consumption (c) filtering and/or centrifuging the extract, (d) sterilizing the extract and (e) microencapsulating the extract from step (d) to form the water soluble oil palm leaf powder and concentrate.

A process for extracting palm oil includes an ultrasonic horn press and a megasonic clarifier. The ultrasonic horn press uses ultrasonic vibrations to rupture the palm fruit. After pressing and filtering the palm oil from the ultrasonic horn press, the megasonic clarifier applies megasonic vibrations to clarify the palm oil. The ultrasonic horn press and megasonic clarifier significantly reduce the use of water and minimizes pollution as compared to conventional processes.

A method of extracting recovering oil from vegetable material in which oil bearing material is heated and subjected to sonication at least one frequency above 400 kHz, removing a first yield of oil by decanting and subjecting the retained material to centrifugal separation to separate out a second yield of oil. Preferably the raw vegetable material is passed through a screw press and the obtained material is heated and subjected to the ultrasonic treatment and then allowed to settle for a predetermined period before decanting the oil layer. Preferably two frequencies above 400 kHz are used, one below 1 MHz and the second from 1 MHz. There are many potential transducers arrangements possible for producing standing waves.

A process including at least one reactive trituration step which includes putting an oil cake including from 3% to 30% oil in contact with an anhydrous light alcohol and an alkaline catalyst under temperature and time conditions that are sufficient to allow for the extraction and transesterification of the vegetable oil and lead to the production of a mixture including fatty acid esters and glycerol, and a de-oiled cake including less than 3% oil.
