    摘要: An image scanner has a scanning unit which captures an image of an original placed on a platen, a scanning unit moving mechanism which moves the scanning unit in an auxiliary scanning direction, and an image processing unit which processes the image of the original scanned by the scanning unit. The image processing unit includes a sheet size candidate determining unit which determines sheet size candidates based on a width of the original, and a scan/non-scan section determining unit which determines a non-scan section and a scan section based on the sheet size candidate. The scanning unit moving mechanism moves the scanning unit at a first speed in the scan section and at a second speed which is faster than the first speed, and the scanning unit scans the image of the original in the scan section and does not scan the image in the non-scan section.

    摘要: A sheet processing apparatus includes a sheet-table unit, a sheet-separating unit, a convey unit, a discharge unit, a sheet processing unit, and a sensor arranged at an upstream end of the convey unit and spaced from the discharge unit with a predetermined distance. The convey unit has at least one convey roller, at least one convey pulley, and an elastic device connected with the convey pulley. The elastic device has a stepping motor, a transmission system, a shaft and at least one torsional spring mounted on the shaft. Two ends of the torsional spring is connected with the convey pulley. When the signal resulted from a rear end of the sheet apart from the sensor is sent to the system controller, the stepping motor is commanded by the system controller to rotate the shaft. The torsional spring is twisted to make the convey pulley move away from but still contact with the convey roller.

    摘要: A wide image scanner which can scan the image of a large scale original using only a regular image sensor is provided. The invention includes a sliding shaft, an image reading device, a number of paper width sensors, a paper edge sensor, and a control module. Whenever the paper edge sensor detects the presence of an end edge of the original, it will send a vertical control signal to the control module to control the rotation direction of the rollers. On the other hand, the paper width sensors detect the width of the original and send the horizontal control signals to the control module. From the horizontal control signals, the control module can determine the number of horizontal displacement positions and control the horizontal displacement each time for the image reading device after the paper edge sensor detects the end edge of the original. The procedure continues until the image reading device has been moved to the final displacement position predetermined by the horizontal control signal. Consequently, the entire image of the origin can automatically be read portion by portion without manual operation.
