摘要: A fluid management apparatus and method, the apparatus including: a fluid conduit for the passage of a dispersion containing particulate matter; a laser arranged to provide laser light inside the fluid conduit; wherein, in use, the laser light heats the particulate matter sufficiently to generate incandescence; one or more sensors for detecting the incandescence of the particulate matter so as to determine a characteristic of the dispersion; and an electromagnetic wave generator operable to provide electromagnetic waves inside the fluid conduit at a position downstream of the laser light so as to vaporise at least a portion of the dispersion.

摘要: A gas turbine engine has a fan drive turbine for driving a gear reduction. The gear reduction drives a fan rotor. A lubrication system supplies oil to the gear reduction, and includes a lubricant pump to supply an air/oil mixture to an inlet of a deaerator. The deaerator includes a separator for separating oil and air, delivering separated air to an air outlet, and delivering separated oil back into an oil tank. The separated oil is first delivered into a pipe outwardly of the oil tank, and then into a location beneath a minimum oil level in the tank. Air within the oil tank moves outwardly through an air exit into the deaerator. A method of designing a gas turbine engine is also disclosed.

The plurality of walls further defines a plurality of axially-extending duct segments of the nozzle duct such that within a first axially-extending duct segment, the duct cross-sectional area of a first duct section of the plurality of duct sections is greater than the duct cross-sectional area of each other duct section and within a second axially-extending duct segment, the duct cross-sectional area of a second duct section of the plurality of duct sections is greater than the duct cross-sectional area of each other duct section.

摘要: An aircraft engine having an oil circuit and a transmission that can be supplied with oil via the oil circuit. Oil fed to the transmission can be directed out of the transmission into an oil reservoir, from which oil can be introduced directly back into the transmission via a hydraulic line path. According to the invention, the oil fed to the oil reservoir can only be fed to the hydraulic line path below a defined filling level of the oil reservoir. When the defined filling level of the oil reservoir is reached, oil can also be introduced into a further hydraulic line path.

摘要: The present invention describes a jet engine with a device for spraying oil into an air-oil volume flow guided inside a flow cross-section limited by a wall area. The air-oil volume flow is guidable through an oil separator in order to separate the oil. In accordance with the invention, the oil can be sprayed into the air-oil volume flow in the area of the device via an outlet area designed movable relative to the wall area.
