摘要： An internal combustion engine has an enclosure mounted therearound comprising an outer enclosure having a horizontally disposed hood positioned over a top of the engine and a pair of vertically disposed sidewalls positioned on either side thereof. An inner enclosure, disposed within the outer enclosure, comprises a horizontally disposed upper wall which is spaced vertically between the top of the engine and the hood to define first and second airflow passages therewith, the second airflow passage being further defined in part by the sidewalls. The inner enclosure further comprises a vertically disposed forward wall positioned adjacent to the front of the engine. An airflow guide means is secured internally on each of the sidewalls to define a passage therebetween which communicates with the second airflow passage defined about the engine. A first outlet means is defined rearwardly on each of the sidewalls to communicate airflow from the first airflow passage to ambient whereas a second outlet is defined at the bottom of the enclosure and beneath the engine for communicating the second airflow passage to ambient. The hood, sidewalls and upper and forward walls of the inner enclosure each have a layer of sound absorbing material secured thereon.

摘要： A sound arresting device in a vehicle for use in construction work having an engine room housing therein an engine and fan means for cooling the engine and fender means extending along either side of the chasis of the vehicle. The engine room is formed in a closed construction and lined with sound absorbing material except for the suction openings designed to receive cooling air and the fender means which are in the form of duct openings at the forward ends of the engine room and at its rear end to connect into the atmosphere, with the interior of the ducts being lined with sound absorbing material; thus, the sound produced in the engine room is substantially attenuated by the linings before the cooling air is discharged through the fender means.

摘要： An air-cooled enclosure for an engine, fan and heat exchanger installation with the engine including an exhaust pipe extending outwardly through the enclosure. An engine compartment within the enclosure has an air inlet and an air outlet and an ejector utilizing the flow of engine exhaust gas from the exhaust pipe to create a low pressure within the air outlet in order to draw ambient cooling air through the air inlet into the engine compartment and out of the air outlet with a minimum of noise transmission through the enclosure. The enclosure further includes a separate engine heat exchanger and fan compartment providing a separate air inlet passage and a separate air outlet passage wherein the powered fan draws ambient cooling air into the separate air inlet and forces it through the heat exchanger and out of the separate air outlet at a minimum noise level and with optimum engine cooling effectiveness.
