摘要: The present invention relates to the treatment or prevention of conditions linked to reduced muscle mass or reduced muscle protein synthesis rate. A subject matter of the invention is a composition comprising complexes of whey protein micelles and pectin for use in the treatment or prevention of a condition selected from the group consisting of sarcopenia, muscle atrophy and negative nitrogen balance. Further aspects of the invention relate to the non-therapeutic use of a composition comprising complexes of whey protein micelles and pectin and a food composition.

摘要: The present invention relates to a whey-derived polar lipid-concentrated fraction composition, being a single-phase composition derived from a whey protein concentrate, wherein the composition is derived from a fraction obtained by treating the whey protein concentrate with a water-containing spirit, a total lipid content is 90 percent by weight (wt %) or more with respect to a dry weight of the composition, and a phospholipid content is 35 wt % or more with respect to the total lipid weight. According to the present invention, a whey-derived polar lipid-concentrated fraction composition in a stable form that maximizes emulsification and physiological functionality may be prepared.

摘要: Compositions and methods can use a combination of an autophagy inducer, such as spermidine, and high protein for induction of autophagy in an individual in need thereof. Preferably, a formulation containing a combination of an autophagy inducer and high protein is administered to the individual in an amount effective to induce autophagy, for example in muscle. The formulation can concomitantly promote protein synthesis and removal of damaged cellular materials. The recipient of administration can be a critically ill patient, for example a patient in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and/or an ageing patient, for example an elderly individual or an individual with sarcopenia.

摘要: The present invention relates to a composition comprising polysaccharides and whey protein micelles for use in the treatment or prevention of a disorder linked to an increase in plasma postprandial insulin in a subject. The invention relates also to the non-therapeutic use of a composition comprising polysaccharides and whey protein micelles to decrease plasma postprandial insulin concentration. A further aspect of the invention is a process for forming polysaccharide-whey protein micelle complexes.

摘要: A non-therapeutic method of improving growth performance of a weaning mammal comprises a step of administering to the weaning mammal or a maternal mammal an effective amount of beta-glucan and casein hydrolysate, wherein the weight ratio of beta-glucan to casein hydrolysate is 1:2 to 2:1. A dietary supplement suitable for oral administration to a mammal comprising beta-glucan and casein hydrolysate is also provided, wherein the weight ratio of beta-glucan to casein hydrolysate is 1:2 to 2:1.
