Abstract: This disclosure generally relates to systems, devices, apparatuses, products, and methods for wireless communication. For example, a user equipment (UE) device within a wireless communication system determines one or more performance metrics associated with an operation of the UE. The UE selects, based at least in part on the one or more performance metrics, one or more sets of antenna elements from a plurality of sets of antenna elements available for an inter-band carrier aggregation communication across at least two radio frequency (RF) chains between the UE and one or more base stations. The UE sends an indication of the one or more selected sets of antenna elements from the UE to the one or more base stations.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify a multi-mode capability for communications by the UE within a frequency band, such that that UE may be capable of operating in any one of a half duplex time division duplex (TDD) mode and a full duplex frequency division duplex (FDD) mode within the frequency band. The UE may then transmit an indication of the multi-mode capability to a base station. The UE may receive, from the base station and responsive to the transmission of the indication, a communication format configuration that includes a partitioning between TDD mode communications and FDD mode communications for the frequency band.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify one or more radio frequency (RF) spectrum bands for full-duplex communications, and may signal an indication of the UE's capability to support full-duplex communications for each RF spectrum band. The UE may further receive one or more configurations for full-duplex communications, which, in some examples, may be based on the UE's indicated capabilities. As an example, the UE may identify a guard band configuration for full-duplex communications, where the guard band configuration may be based on one or more aspects of resources used for the full-duplex communications. In other cases, the UE may identify a transmission hopping or antenna switching configuration for full-duplex communications. In any case, the UE may communicate with a base station in accordance with the one or more configurations and the UE's capabilities.

Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for implementing a flexible beamforming architecture. In an example aspect, the apparatus comprises an antenna array comprising a first antenna element with a first feed port and a second antenna element with a second feed port. The apparatus also comprises a wireless transceiver with a first dedicated transceiver path coupled to the first feed port and a second dedicated transceiver path coupled to the second feed port. The wireless transceiver also comprises a flexible beamforming network configured to selectively be in a first configuration that couples both the first dedicated transceiver path and the second dedicated transceiver path to a first intermediate transceiver path of the wireless transceiver, and be in a second configuration that connects the first dedicated transceiver path to the first intermediate transceiver path and connects the second dedicated transceiver path to a second intermediate transceiver path of the wireless transceiver.

A user equipment (UE) may support two different modes of operation (e.g., a normal transmission efficiency mode, a high transmission efficiency mode, etc.) either controlled by a network or the UE. The UE may transmit an indication of a capability of supporting the different modes of operation, where the network or the UE determine to use which mode of operation to use based on the transmitted capability. For example, the network may transmit an explicit indication of which mode of operation for the UE to use and/or may transmit an indication of the modes of operation, where the UE determines which mode of operation to use after receiving the indication. Additionally, the UE may determine which mode of operation to use based on being scheduled within or outside of a restricted bandwidth allocated to a mode of operation.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to techniques and apparatus for efficient support of connected discontinuous reception (C-DRX) by using a wireless device (e.g., a user equipment (UE)) with a second receiver. A wireless device with two receivers may place one receiver in a low power mode and take the receiver out of the low power mode in response to a signal received from a serving base station (BS) of the wireless device. A BS may direct a wireless device to enter a low power DRX (LP-DRX) mode or enhanced DRX mode having longer low power cycles than a non-enhanced DRX mode, and the wireless device may place a primary receiver in a low power mode in response to the directive from the BS. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and disclosed.

Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer-program products for performing dynamic bandwidth switching between control signals and data signals of differing bandwidths are disclosed. A wireless communication apparatus comprises a memory and a processor coupled to the memory. The processor is configured to transmit a control signal to a user equipment (UE) using a first bandwidth. The processor is further configured to transmit a data signal to the UE using a second bandwidth wider than the first bandwidth. The control signal and the data signal are transmitted over a single carrier frequency. The control signal comprises an indication of a characteristic of the data signal. The data signal is transmitted after the control signal such that the data signal and control signal are separated by a time interval. The time interval is based on at least a switching latency of the UE.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing indications about the TX RF non-linear impairments are disclosed. In accordance with some implementations, a first device (UE or base station) estimates EVM indications for the signal and determines if the EVM indications is above a threshold. The first device may transmit the estimated TX non-linearity indications math as AM-AM, AM-PM, Volterra coefficients, and/or other performance metrics to a second device, that transmitted the signal, when it is determined that the EVM indications is above the threshold. Systems and methods for wireless communication impairment correction are also disclosed wherein, in accordance with some implementations, a first device receives estimated TX non-linearity indications such as AM-AM, AM-PM, and/or Volterra coefficients from a second device and performs non-linear correction of a transmit signal for the second receiver device based at least in part on the EVM indications. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.
