Abstract: An apparatus of a base station includes a memory device and processing circuitry operatively coupled to the memory device. The processing circuitry processes a buffer status report (BSR) from a user equipment (UE) indicating an amount of data in a buffer of the UE. The processing circuitry further determines a ratio of WLAN uplink data to be transmitted on a WLAN channel of the UE to long term evolution (LTE) uplink data to be transmitted on a LTE channel. Furthermore, the processing circuitry encodes a protocol data unit (PDU) indicating the amount, wherein the PDU is to be transmitted to the UE.

Abstract: Techniques described herein may be used to enable User Equipment (UE) to switch between Radio Access Technologies (RATs) while transitioning from an inactive state to an active state. For example. a UE may connect to a base station via one type of RAT (e.g., Long-Term Evolution (LTE) RAT), enter an inactive state, and later, while transitioning from the inactive state to an active state, connect to another base station via another type of RAT (e.g., a New Radio (NR) or 5th Generation (5G) RAT). The UE may transition from one RAT to another RAT without increasing signaling between the UE and the network beyond minimal signaling involved in a transition of the UE from the inactive state to an active state. The network may further minimize signaling by determining and communicating minimized connection configuration information to the UE.

Abstract: An apparatus of a base station (BS) of a radio access network (RAN) comprises memory and processing circuitry. The UE selects to a new cell, performs a cell update procedure, performs a buffer request procedure, and performs a cell update procedure to download buffered data and to perform data transmission with the new cell.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure describe methods, systems, and devices for facilitating transfer of user equipment (UE) handover in multi-cell networks. A source evolved node B (eNB) may transmit an autonomous handover grant to a UE along with an indication of a target eNB. The source eNB may also make a handover request to the target eNB and provide a UE context to the target eNB. Upon transmission of a handover command, the UE may perform a random access channel procedure to connect to the target eNB. Because the eNB may have the UE context (or may be able to fetch the context), the handover time may be lessened. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

The UE can signal a transceiver of the UE to simultaneously broadcast two or more transmission beams to establish a connection with one or more of an extended eNodeB or one or more extended transmission reception points (TRP), wherein each extended TRP is connected to the UE via an extended interface with the extended eNodeB. The UE can decode, at the UE, higher layer signaling received from the one or more extended TRPs to form beam association, beam addition, beam release, beam change, or a combination thereof between the UE and the one or more extended TRPs.
