Abstract: In one embodiment, a method generally comprises importing a layout identifying routing information for a plurality of differential pair traces on a printed circuit board at a skew assessment module, receiving values for a plurality of skew parameters associated with fiber weave skew, receiving variation parameters from a database comprising data collected on fiber weave variation for one or more of the skew parameters, calculating a skew estimate for the printed circuit board based on the skew parameters and the variation parameters at the skew assessment module, and determining if the skew estimate is within a specified skew allowance for the printed circuit board.

Abstract: A fault processing subsystem of an electronics assembly, senses an alarm state at an output of a first power distribution element of multiple power distribution elements arranged in a hierarchy in the electronics assembly. The first element is at a level of the hierarchy other than the top level, and the alarm state corresponds to an output of the first element being different than an expected output of that element. The fault processing subsystem commands, in response to the sensing the alarm state, the first element to disable via a control input to the first element. In response to the fault processing subsystem thereafter sensing an alarm state at the power output of the commanded element, the fault processing subsystem commands an element at the next higher level in the hierarchy from the first element to disable.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes receiving light from a light generating device at a port of a network device, the port comprising a port optical element positioned within a path of the light, receiving a cable assembly comprising a plug at the port, the plug comprising a plug optical element positioned for alignment with the port optical element when the cable assembly is coupled with the port, and processing the light at the port optical element and the plug optical element. The processed light is emitted from a portion of the plug extending from the port when the cable assembly is coupled with the port to provide a visual indication of compatibility between the cable assembly and the port. An apparatus is also disclosed herein.

Abstract: Presented herein are techniques for connectors, apparatuses, and system with connectors for data and power. A connector at an end of the network cable can be configured to mate with a port in a device. The connector can include a set of data pins for connecting data wires in the network cable to the port. The connector can include a set of power pins for connecting power wires in the network cable to the port. The set of power pins can carry a higher electrical power than that carried by the set of data pins. A first spacing between adjacent power pins in the set of power pins has at least a minimum distance to reduce voltage breakdown between the adjacent power pins in the set of power pin.
