Abstract:
A method for reducing power consumption by a wireless communication device is disclosed. The method can include the wireless communication device determining that the device is experiencing an uplink power limited condition. In an instance in which the connection to the serving network was established only for a signaling purpose, the method can further include the wireless communication device sending a measurement report including an actual measured downlink signal quality value for the serving network in response to the uplink power limited condition. However, if the connection to the serving network was not established only for a signaling purpose, the method can include the wireless communication device sending a measurement report including a modified downlink signal quality value for the serving network to trigger a handover in response to the uplink power limited condition.
Abstract:
A method for reducing power consumption in connected mode discontinuous reception is disclosed. The method can include a wireless communication device sending a transmission for a pending HARQ retransmission process and receiving an ACK for the transmission. The method can further include the wireless communication device determining a subset of remaining uplink transmission opportunities in the pending HARQ retransmission process to monitor for an uplink grant in response to receiving the ACK and monitoring the subset of remaining uplink transmission opportunities for an uplink grant. The method can additionally include the wireless communication device entering a sleep state for any uplink transmission opportunities remaining in the pending HARQ retransmission process after monitoring the subset of remaining uplink transmission opportunities in an instance in which an uplink grant for the pending HARQ retransmission process is not received for any of the subset of remaining uplink transmission opportunities.
Abstract:
Adjusting search and measurement periodicity based on device motion. A wireless device may camp on a serving cell. Signal strength, signal quality, and signal to noise ratio of the serving cell may be measured. If each is above a respective threshold, and if the wireless device is stationary, the periodicities at which searches and neighbor cell measurements are performed may be adjusted (e.g., increased) from baseline periodicities.
Abstract:
This application presents techniques for an LTE user equipment (UE) to use an extended service request (ESR) extension for LTE TDD to FDD redirection for mobile originated and mobile terminated VoLTE calls. These techniques include the UE informing the network that it supports the particular features of the ESR extensions presented. Once the UE attaches to the network, a radio resource control (RRC) message can be sent to indicate that the UE supports the new ESR extension, after which the UE can use the new ESR extension to facilitate an LTE TDD to FDD redirection for the VoLTE call.
Abstract:
A system, devices and methods for providing input from a user equipment (UE) for the selection of a carrier channel combination for use in carrier aggregation. The exemplary system includes a UE configured to perform carrier aggregation, the UE storing a radio frequency (RF) calibration table including a plurality of transmission related requirements specific to the UE, the UE configured to generate priority data for each carrier channel combination supported for use in carrier aggregation based upon the RF calibration table and a network component receiving the priority data and an indication from the UE, the network component configured to select a carrier channel combination for use in carrier aggregation based upon the priority data, the network component transmitting carrier aggregation configuration data including the selected carrier channel combination to the UE.
Abstract:
Methods, apparatuses and computer readable media are described that adjust connection states between a mobile wireless device and a wireless network upon detection of a connection state synchronization failure. After an interruption of a connection between the mobile wireless device and the wireless network, the mobile wireless device responds to a paging message received from the wireless network to establish a new radio resource control (RRC) connection or to re-establish an RRC connection with the wireless network, when an internal state of the mobile wireless device an at least a portion of contents of the paging message indicate the connection state synchronization failure.
Abstract:
A user equipment (UE) configured to establish a multimedia data stream with a further UE, identify a predetermined condition, wherein the predetermined condition indicates a decrease in quality of the multimedia data stream at the further UE and implement a mechanism to mitigate the degradation of the decrease in quality of the multimedia data stream at the further UE.
Abstract:
This disclosure relates to techniques for supporting cell set based mobility. A network may provide configuration information to a wireless device, relating to a current cell and possibly to one or more other cells in one or more cell sets. The wireless device and network may take various measurements. In response to the measurements and the configuration information, the wireless device may perform a cell change to one of the other cells.
Abstract:
This disclosure is directed towards improved methods for identifying one or more base stations for connection with user equipment. The user equipment may establish a connection with a base stations based on an estimated location of the base station. Additionally, the user equipment may receive an indication from the base station to scan for additional base stations at additional estimated locations. Further, the user equipment may determine one or more connection parameters (e.g., distance from communication hub to user equipment, angle of communication hub relative to user equipment, shadowing at the communication hub, and the like) associated with the base stations within the geographical area. The user equipment may establish connection with base stations that are determined to have the best signal strength based on the connection parameters.
Abstract:
A connected car and an onboard user equipment (UE) may establish independent cellular connections and may also establish a connection between each other. The UE establishes a first cellular link between the UE and a first network, establishes a connection with a connected car, wherein the connected car has a second cellular link between the connected car and a second network, evaluates one or more conditions and declares one of the first cellular link or the connection with the connected car a primary network interface for the UE based on, at least, the one or more conditions.
