摘要: Water treatment systems and associated methods are generally described. Certain embodiments of the water treatment systems and methods described herein may be used to treat water comprising one or more contaminants (e.g., oil, grease, suspended solids, scale-forming ions, volatile organic material) to remove at least a portion of the one or more contaminants. In some embodiments, at least a portion of the treated water may be used directly in certain applications (e.g., oil and/or gas extraction processes). In some embodiments, at least a portion of the treated water may undergo desalination to produce substantially pure water and/or concentrated brine.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method of dewatering an aqueous mineral suspension comprising introducing into the suspension a flocculating system comprising a mixture of polyethylene oxide polymers, in particular a mixture of one or more high molecular weight polyethylene oxide polymer and one or more ultra high molecular weight polyethylene oxide polymer. Said mixture of polyethylene oxide polymers is useful for the treatment of suspensions of particulate material, especially waste mineral slurries. The invention is particularly suitable for the treatment of tailings and other waste material resulting from mineral processing, in particular, the processing of oil sands tailings.

摘要: In some embodiments, a method may include separating contaminants from impaired water. The method may include contacting impaired water with a peracetate oxidant solution. The method may include mixing said impaired water with the peracetate oxidant solution. The method may include separating the impaired water oxidant solution mixture into solids and a water phase. In some embodiments, the peracetate oxidant solution may include peracetate anions and a peracid. The peracetate oxidant solution may have a pH from about 10 to about pH 12. The peracetate oxidant solution may have a molar ratio of peracetate anions to peracid ranging from about 60:1 to about 6000:1. In some embodiments, a peracetate anion to hydrogen peroxide molar ratio is greater than about 16:1. In some embodiments, a reactive coagulant, a softener, and/or a floc aid may be added to the impaired water.

摘要: Systems and methods related to desalination systems are described herein. According to some embodiments, the desalination systems are transiently operated and/or configured to facilitate transient operation. In some embodiments, a liquid stream comprising water and at least one dissolved salt is circulated through a fluidic circuit comprising a desalination system. In some embodiments, a portion of the desalination system (e.g., a humidifier) is configured to remove at least a portion of the water from the liquid stream to produce a concentrated brine stream enriched in the dissolved salt. In certain cases, the concentrated brine stream is recirculated through the fluidic circuit until the concentrated brine stream reaches a relatively high density (e.g., at least about 10 pounds per gallon) and/or a relatively high salinity (e.g., a total dissolved salt concentration of at least about 25 wt %). In certain embodiments, additional salt is added to the concentrated brine stream to produce an ultra-high-density brine stream (e.g., a brine stream having a density of at least about 11.7 pounds per gallon). Some aspects relate to a system that is configured to promote energy efficiency by recovering heat from the recirculated concentrated brine stream upon discharge from the fluidic circuit.

摘要: Provided are a method and an apparatus for clarifying industrial water that enable industrial water to be clarified to a high degree with a small amount of coagulant instead of an inorganic coagulant, such as PAC, aluminum sulfate, or ferric chloride, which need to be used in a large amount for clarifying industrial water and are capable of producing treated water having qualities particularly suitable for an RO membrane treatment. The method for clarifying industrial water includes adding a melamine-formaldehyde resin acid colloidal solution to industrial water in order to coagulate the industrial water and subsequently filtering the coagulated water. The coagulated water may be directly filtered with a pressure or gravity filtration device, or with a microfiltration or ultrafiltration membrane module, without being subjected to solid-liquid separation using a sedimentation or floatation separation device prior to the filtration treatment.

摘要: Vaults, boxes, systems, and treatment methods to capture pollutants from stormwater runoff and prevent conveyance of the pollutants from entering a receiving water body or landscape area, which can be part of a permanent stormwater drainage infrastructure. A polymer system with at least one polymer log can be used to treat stormwater runoff and any stormwater conveyance, such as a pipe, box culvert, ditchline, and the like. Once stormwater has been dosed with polymers, the treatment easily retains the pollutants, and the one or more polymer logs continue to enhance water quality, while providing an easy method for servicing polymer logs without requiring service technicians to enter the vault. A hydroslide servicing system can include pivotal spray heads to pivot to parallel positions over a sloped floor to flush debris toward easy to reach locations to be vacuumed, and vertical spray heads which can break up debris bridges.

摘要: The invention provides methods and compositions for utilizing encapsulated tracer dyes in difficult liquids such as wastewater or with highly reactive treatment chemicals such as aluminum-based coagulants. In difficult liquids or highly reactive treatment chemicals even so-called “inert” tracers end up reacting and their fluorescence changes. As a result they are inconsistent and cannot be used to measure the amount of treatment chemical present. But by encapsulating the tracer dyes, even non inert tracer dyes become inert and they can reliably be used to measure the amount of treatment chemical present even if highly reactive or in a difficult liquid.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for optimising material recovery in a chemical pulping process. The method comprises treating of cellulosic raw material with cooking chemicals in a cooking step, where lignin is at least partly dissolved into cooking liquid phase and separated from fibres. The lignin is separated from the cooking liquid phase. The separated lignin is used for formation of a treatment composition comprising at the most 1 weight-% of aluminium. A bleaching liquid phase is treated with the treatment composition in order to remove organic humic substances from the bleaching liquid. Organic sludge is formed and it is used for energy production in a chemical recovery step.
