Abstract:
A rotary cutter includes: an elongated shaft that defines a rotation axis and that has two opposite mounting ends, and at least one axially extending blade-mounting surface parallel to the rotation axis and extending between the mounting ends; a pair of blade-aligning members, each of which is mounted on a respective one of the mounting ends of the shaft, and each of which is formed with at least one protrusion; at least one blade attached to the blade-mounting surface and having two opposite end portions, each of which is formed with a recess that receives the protrusion of a respective one of the blade-aligning members; and a fastening plate and screws for fastening the blade to the shaft.
Abstract:
A portable power planer for planing the top surface of a workpiece. The portable power planer includes a base, which defines a reference surface, a cutting blade, which defines a cutting plane, and a setting mechanism may be employed to prevent a distance between the reference surface and the cutting plane from being adjusted to a dimension that is smaller than a height dimension that is selected from a group of predetermined dimensions. The setting mechanism includes first and second stop members, one being coupled to the base and the other being associated with the cutting blade. One of the stop members includes a plurality of differently dimensioned sectors or contact points that may be selectively positioned inline with the other stop member to inhibit movement of the cutting blade toward the base if the dimension therebetween is equal to a dimension associated with a given one of the contact points.
Abstract:
The plane head for the hand-held planing machine includes a cylindrical base body (11) made from a group of identical stamped sheets (18) arranged axially next to each other and each provided with a punched hole (150) so as to form a base body cavity (15); a planing knife (14) protruding radially beyond an outer surface of the base body (11) from a longitudinal groove (13) and fixed therein by a form-fitting connection or form-locking connection so that the planing knife cannot be radially dislodged from the base body; and a chuck wedge (16) received in the base body cavity (15) so that the planing knife (14) is clamped in the base body (11) by centrifugal force during rotation of the plane head. To provide strength and safety from action of wood chips the chuck wedge (16) is held releasably, radially movable, in the base body cavity (15), the base body cavity (15) and the chuck wedge (16) are shaped to conform to each other so that the chuck wedge bears with a clamping surface (161) on the planing knife (14) and is braced on opposing surfaces of the base body cavity (15) facing opposite to each other in a rotation direction of the planing head. The chuck wedge (16) is formed so that it is clampable against a bottom surface (152) of the base body cavity (15) to produce a spring force acting on the planing knife.
Abstract:
In a cutter head, especially for a profile cutter, with a basic body (1) having at least two recesses (3) uniformly distributed around its circumference, cutter (5) can interchangeably be secured in the recesses by means of a clamping device having at least one clamping component (8) and at least one clamping screw acting therewith and with the basic body (1). In the region of its inner end section, each of the clamping components is supported by the basic body (1) to pivot about an axis parallel to the latter's axis of rotation (12) and pivotable and clampable by means of at least one of the clamping screws (10) by a tensile force generated thereby against a bearing surface (4) of the recess (3).
Abstract:
The invention concerns a cutter head, in particular a planing cutter head, whose blade carrier (1) has at least one mounting (5), facing radially outwards, for a blade (7). Fitted in each mounting (5) is a wedge grip (17) which can be moved relative to the blade carrier (1) and which presses the blade (7) against a stop (9) on the mounting (5) when moved with at least a component of motion radially outwards. Located between the blade (7) and the wedge grip (17) is a mounting strip (21) which can be moved relative to the wedge grip (17) and the stop (9) on the mounting (5) and which releases the blade (7) for removal radially outwards when the wedge grip (17) is displaced inwards.
Abstract:
A stump cutting tool assembly for a stump cutting apparatus having a rotatable cutting wheel includes at least one tool holder removably secured to the cutting wheel, at least one cutting tooth mounted circumferentially and removably to the at least tool holder, the at least one tool holder including a wheel portion extending circumferentially along the cutting wheel and a tool portion extending axially at an angle to a plane of the wheel portion, the tool portion having an aperture extending circumferentially therethrough and the at least one cutting tooth including a shank and an insert attached to the shank.
Abstract:
An improved milling head. A milling head is provided with a backing plate with a toothed system on the from side, whose teeth run in parallel to the longitudinal axis of the carrier body. Because the blade plate has a toothed system, which can be engaged with the toothed system on the front of the support plate, the blade plate no longer needs to be shifted radially outward to be resharpened. Rather the blade plate must only be radially displaced to the outside by a tooth of a micro-toothed system. This simplifies the regrinding on a constant flight circle diameter, because only the hard metal of the blade plate needs to be ground, which can be accomplished with a normal hard metal grinding wheel. The support plate only needs to be shaped when it is manufactured, which is possible with a normal corundum disk and can be accomplished quickly. Since the support plate does not need to be reground, it remains completely functional and can be used together with a new blade plate. In a preferred embodiment, the support plates and the flank of the groove which creates the face of the support plate provide for an interlocking securing device for the support plate against any dislocation in the radial direction relative to the carrier body.
Abstract:
A removable cutterhead insert for use in a helical cutterhead for an industrial woodworking machine, the helical cutterhead including a generally cylindrical portion, a plurality of circumferential, spaced grooves extending into the cutterhead body from the periphery of the cylindrical portion and adapted to receive the removable cutterhead inserts, and fasteners for removably securing the cutterhead inserts in the grooves; the cutterhead insert includes a mild steel insert body and two blade units; the insert body having raised portions having triangular pockets formed therein so as to have two inwardly-facing flat portions, a hole to receive the fasteners for removably securing the cutterhead insert in the grooves between the inwardly-facing flat portions and two bolt holes to secure the two blade units to the insert body; and the blade units are triangular with cut-off corners each including a blade edge and configured so as not to occlude the countersunk hole and to have the blades edges disposed to align with the blade edges of other blade units in other insert bodies to form a substantially helical blade when the blade units are secured to the insert body in a cutterhead.
Abstract:
The disclosure describes a cutting tool assembly for mounting unto a rotatable chip forming head. It comprises a knife holder having a base portion which is adapted to be secured peripherally to the head and a cantilevered plate portion having a lower section integral with the base portion and an upper section extending obliquely over the base portion. The cantilevered arrangement of the knife supporting plate enables the lateral ejection of chips produced from a solid piece of wood during operation so that chips do not contact successive cutting tool assemblies as the head rotates.
