    摘要: A resid hydrocarbon is converted to lower boiling hydrocarbons and/or desulfurized by contacting, in the presence of hydrogen, said resid with a bed of catalyst particles, substantially all of said particles having a surface-to-volume ratio ranging between about 100 and about 250 l/inches, and wherein substantially all points within each of said particles are less than about 0.015 inch from the particle''s surface. When one of these particles is circumscribed by a right circular cylinder having an altitude equal to that of the particle, the particle contacts the sidewall of the cylinder at at least three elements and occupies from about 70 to about 90 percent of the cylinder''s volume. Preferred particle shapes are clover-leaf, cross, ring and C-shape.

    摘要: A process for the hydrodealkylation of alkyl-substituted aromatic hydrocarbons, including contacting the alkyl-substituted aromatic hydrocarbons with a catalyst comprising a metal of Group VIB of the Periodic System, such as chromium, molybdenum, and tungsten, and mixtures thereof, in an amount of about 5 to 15 per cent by weight of the finished catalyst, and a promoter selected from the group consisting of alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, rare earth metals, and mixtures thereof, such as potassium, rubidium, cesium, calcium, strontium, barium, cerium, thorium, etc., in an amount between about 1 to 10 percent by weight of the finished catalyst, at a temperature of about 1,050* to 1,200*F, a pressure of about 100 to 1,000 psig., a liquid hourly space velocity of about 0.1 to 5, and a hydrogento-hydrocarbon mole ratio between about 3 and 15 to 1.

    摘要: Porous manganese oxide pellets in which a major portion of the manganese oxides is manganous oxide and the porosity of the pellets is not less than about 45%. Preferably, substantially all the manganese oxide in the pellets is manganous oxide and the porosity is about 60 percent. The porous manganese oxide pellets are between about one-fourth inch to about five-eighths inch in diameter. The pellets are useful as sulfur acceptors whereby they can be used to reduce the sulfur content of other materials such as coke pellets, iron ore pellets and the like.
