摘要： A formulation and method for treating waste photographic processing solutions to destroy the pollutant nature of the solution and recover residual silver from the solution. Waste photographic processing solutions containing silver thiosulfate complexes and/or sulfite, such as exhausted fixing solutions, are treated with a chemical formulation including an oxidant of sodium chlorate in the presence of an acidic buffering agent. The formulation oxidizes the thiosulfate and/or sulfite ions of the solution to the sulfate state and precipitates the silver ion as an insoluble halide.
