An object of the invention is to attain means for efficiently atomizing liquid, means for easily and rapidly switching the type of chemical substance emitted and a compact apparatus of good maintainability. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] An apparatus comprises an ultrasonic transducer; an ultrasonic propagation medium disposed so as to fill a plane of vibration of the transducer; liquid retaining means disposed so as to be in contact with an end face of the medium; and an ultrasonic focusing reflecting mechanism (concave reflection mirror) disposed in an ultrasonic propagation path, thereby the apparatus attains discharging into air and atomization of the liquid by means of ultrasonic waves. Atomization efficiency is enhanced by the use of an ultrasonic reflection tube, and mist emission is carried out. Use is made of a compact liquid container equipped at its bottom with an ultrasonic transmission membrane. Various types of liquids can be atomized by changing the direction of ultrasonic course. Mist can be emitted by means of a thermal current as heating means. IC tag is attached to the liquid retaining means or liquid injection means.

摘要: A device (1) for producing an aerosol from vaporisable constituents of tobacco comprises a vaporising chamber (24) within which the tobacco is placed. A main housing (9) which forms a portion of the vaporising chamber also forms a combustion chamber (18) within which a gas catalytic combustion element (19) is located for converting fuel gas to heat by catalytic action. A temperature responsive control valve (61) controls the supply of fuel gas to the combustion chamber for maintaining the temperature in the vaporising chamber A thermal mass (96) secured to a tab portion (95) of the gas catalytic combustion element maintains the temperature of the tab portion at or above the ignition temperature of the gas catalytic combustion element during periods of fuel gas interruption by the control valve. Vaporised constituents of the tobacco are drawn from the vaporising chamber through an aerosol accommodating tube (37) through a mouthpiece (38). A heat sink member (40) is located in the aerosol accommodating tube for cooling the aerosol and for condensing tar as the aerosol is drawn from the vaporising chamber.

摘要: A device, method, and system for producing a condensation aerosol are disclosed. The device includes a chamber having an upstream opening and a downstream opening which allow gas to flow through the chamber, and a heat-conductive substrate located at a position between the upstream and downstream openings. Formed on the substrate is a drug composition film containing a therapeutically effective dose of a drug when the drug is administered in aerosol form. A heat source in the device is operable to supply heat to the substrate to produce a substrate temperature greater than 300 oC, and to substantially volatilize the drug composition film from the substrate in a period of 2 seconds or less. The device produces an aerosol containing less than about 10% by weight drug composition degradation products and at least 50% of the drug composition of said film.

摘要: Apparatus is provided herein for inhalation rewarming for the treatment of victims of hypothermia. The apparatus includes a water reservoir. A steam chamber communicates with ambient air. A heater means is associated with such water chamber, for the generation of steam into such steam chamber. An opening is provided admitting air to the steam chamber, thereby to provide an air-steam mixture. A first conductor is connected to the steam chamber for the conducting of the air-steam mixture from the steam chamber in a first direction. A valve is provided in the first conductor for varying the inflow of the ambient air while simultaneously reciprocally varying the inflow of the air-steam mixture and providing a substantially constant volume flow into the first conduit means. The valve includes actuated operator means for initially introducing sufficient ambient air into the air-steam mixture in the first conductor means to provide a continuous flow of the water-saturated air at the temperature of about 35.degree. C.-about 45.degree. C. A flexible conduit leads from the valve means for conducting the water-saturated air in the first direction. Finally a breathing mask is connected to the flexible conduit means downstream of the valve means. The breathing mask includes one-way valves therein to permit the water-saturated air to flow only in the first direction to the breathing mask, whereby the water-saturated air at the temperature of about 35.degree. C.-about 45.degree. C. is drawn into the breathing mask by the negative pressure produced by human inhalation, and exhaled air produced by human inhalation is vented. Thus, a simple, effective apparatus for inhalation rewarming has been provided which has special relevance to first-aid treatment of accidental hypothermia.
