Abstract: In certain embodiments, a system for aligning an eye with a patient interface of a laser device includes a camera, a display screen, and a computer. The camera records images of the eye through the patient interface of the laser device. A liquid is disposed between and is in contact with the patient interface and the outer surface of the eye. The images include an outline of the liquid. The display screen displays the images of the eye. The computer aligns the eye with the patient interface by: identifying the outline of the liquid in an image received from the camera; determining a misalignment of the eye according to the outline; and instructing the display screen to display a description of the misalignment.

Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to microsurgical instruments for ophthalmic surgical procedures, and more particularly, methods and microsurgical instruments for vitreoretinal procedures. In certain embodiments described herein, a vitreoretinal procedure is performed utilizing two surgical instruments: 1) a treatment instrument configured to a) treat a target ophthalmic tissue (e.g., sever and remove the vitreous body), and b) infuse fluid into the intraocular space to maintain intraocular pressure (TOP); and 2) an illumination probe for providing illumination within the intraocular space. The combined treatment and infusion functionalities of the treatment instrument eliminate the need for a separate infusion cannula, thus enabling the vitreoretinal procedure to be performed with only two instruments and reducing the number of incisions made in the eye. Additionally, utilization of two instruments facilitates easier manipulation of the eye by a surgeon, as one of the two instruments can be used to “steer” the eye during the procedure.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for systems and methods to provide improved ocular aberrometry recovery. An ocular aberrometry system includes a wavefront sensor configured to provide wavefront sensor data associated with an optical target monitored by the ocular aberrometry system and a logic device configured to communicate with the wavefront sensor. The logic device is configured to receive ocular aberrometry output data including at least the wavefront sensor data provided by the wavefront sensor, identify imaging artifact induced singularities in the received ocular aberrometry output data, determine corrected aberrometry output data based, at least in part, on the identified singularities and the received ocular aberrometry output data, and generate user feedback corresponding to the received ocular aberrometry output data based, at least in part, on the corrected aberrometry output data.

Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus for performing intraocular lens implantation using real-time surgical reference indicium are disclosed. An example method includes recording a patient specific pre-operative still image of an eye prior to cyclorotation of the eye when a patient lies down for surgery and generating at least one real-time multidimensional visualization of at least a portion of the eye for display. The method further includes using the patient specific pre-operative still image to at least produce at least one virtual surgical reference indicium including an ocular natural vertical axis of the eye and align the at least one virtual surgical reference indicium to the eye in conjunction with the real-time multidimensional visualization of at least a portion of the eye. The patient specific pre-operative still image is captured under a dilation condition selected from the group consisting of natural dilation, chemical dilation, and no dilation.

Abstract: An intraocular lens (IOL) configured to support a first optic for functioning as a single lens IOL and configured to support a second optic for functioning as a dual optic IOL. The base includes a first optic for providing a base power. A recess in an anterior rim of the base is configured for positioning a radial extension of a second optic. The geometry of the recess is configured to securely couple to the radial extension to prevent rotation of the second optic relative to the base and prevent tilting of the second optic relative to an optic axis.
