Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may establish connectivity to a local area network using cellular radio access technology (RAT). The UE may establish a signaling radio link with a cellular access node (AN) via a cellular RAT. The UE may transmit a connectivity request to a network node via the signaling radio link. The connectivity request may specify a connectivity type for establishing connectivity to a LAN. Based at least in part on an acceptance of the connectivity request, the UE may establish a data radio link with the cellular AN. In an example, the acceptance of the connectivity request may include at least one parameter for configuring the connectivity to the LAN. The UE may then establish a data flow for exchanging data link layer packets with the LAN via the data radio link.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some wireless systems, a base station centralized unit (CU) may communicate with a user equipment (UE) through a multi-hop backhaul architecture. This multi-hop backhaul connection may include a donor base station and any number of relay base stations connected via backhaul links. In some cases, the relay base stations or the UE may experience data congestion in a logical channel-specific buffer. The relay base stations or UE may implement backpressure signaling (e.g., in the medium access control (MAC) layer) to mitigate the congestion. A wireless device operating as a mobile termination (MT) endpoint may transmit a backpressure report message to a wireless device operating as a base station distributed unit (DU) endpoint for the logical channel. The base station DU may adjust a scheduling rate for data unit transmissions over the indicated logical channel based on the backpressure report.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for partitioning of time-frequency resources for types of traffic separately. A centralized scheduler in a centralized system or a set of access nodes (ANs) in a distributed system may allocate a portion of a set of resources for a first traffic type (e.g., control or data traffic). In some cases, multiple ANs may exchange reports or measurements to determine the resources to allocate to a given traffic type. The allocated resources may be repurposed for use by a different traffic type (e.g., data traffic resources may be repurposed an used for control traffic resources) in order to account for varying traffic conditions (e.g., unscheduled control traffic).

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a message indicating that a base station supports allocating resources for sidelink communications using a first radio access technology (RAT) and a second RAT that is different from the first RAT. The UE may transmit a sidelink information message to the base station using the first RAT that indicates that sidelink communications are to be performed using either the second RAT or both the first RAT and the second RAT. The UE may receive a configuration message from the base station that comprises an identifier for the sidelink communications and an indication of available sidelink resources. The UE may transmit, based at least in part on the configuration message, a request for resources within the available sidelink resources, the request indicating the identifier and a buffer status report (BSR).

A user equipment (UE) may determine that a profile for vehicle-based sidelink communications supports packet duplication using a set of carrier frequencies. The UE may transmit a request to a base station for resources to use to perform the vehicle-based sidelink communications, the request comprising an indication of the profile, a reliability metric associated with the profile, and an identifier that identifies the set of carrier frequencies. The UE may receive one or more grants from the base station for semi-persistent scheduling resources allocated on the set of carrier frequencies in response to the request.

A first wireless device may identify a wireless relay requirement associated with the first wireless device. A proximity service protocol may be initiated between the first wireless device and a second wireless device based at least in part on the identified wireless relay requirement. The proximity service protocol may be initiated prior to an initiation of a communication data exchange between the first wireless device and the second wireless device. A relay link may be established, via the ProSe protocol, between the first wireless device and the second wireless device based at least in part on the identified wireless relay requirement.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for utilization of an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band for performing a ranging procedure. Performance of the ranging procedure may be triggered by a signal transmitted in a licensed radio frequency spectrum band. While conventional ranging in Long Term Evolution (LTE) communications, for example, using the licensed radio frequency spectrum band may be limited to a 10 MHz bandwidth, using the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band for ranging may allow use of a wider bandwidth, such as 100 MHz or greater. Use of the wider bandwidth may result in more accurate ranging measurements (e.g., time-of-arrival estimation).

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. A user equipment (UE) may receive configuration information for a multimedia broadcast service including a group communication identifier and a priority indicator. The UE may then convey the information in a monitoring request to a relay UE. In some cases the information may be conveyed using the Proximity-based Service (ProSe) signaling protocol. The relay UE may use the configuration information to relay broadcast to the receiving UE. If the relay UE receives multiple priority indicators associated with the same group communication identifier (e.g., from different receiving UEs) it may use the highest priority or the most recent priority.
